The buzz of the BTS reunion is already high among the ARMY. Meanwhile, the oldest member of the group, Jin, has come up with his second mini-album project, which is attracting much attention from the audience. The lead single from the album, “Don’t Say You Love Me,” is a fine example of Jin’s solo endeavors that perfectly depict the soft and soothing energy of the artist. The song has been released with an official music video that portrays the melancholic mood of the track with an ample dose of aesthetics and engaging visuals. Director Yongseok Choi did a great job by featuring the beautiful locations of Singapore while establishing the story. Check out the OMV on YouTube now!

If seen from a technical angle, “Don’t Say You Love Me” does not have anything new to provide. The producers have played it extremely safe and did not go for any wild experimentation, rather opting for a radio-friendly pop tune that comes with an ample amount of hooks. The pleasant pop flavors offer a catchy groove that does not overwhelm the overall poignant mood of the track but makes it more enjoyable and engaging as well. The soft appeal in the track has also helped Jin to establish his artistic colors, which can be quite diversified and captivating at times.

“Don’t Say You Love Me” offers straightforward pop flavors that listeners are already familiar with. Whether it is the predictability in chord progression or the soft grooves of pop, there are no uncertain movements or twists in the project. It is a musical creation that provides the essence of ‘nice’, which is not the current high-octane pop trend. Jin stands out with his simplicity and emotive vocal approach, and it sounds very relatable with simple yet creative lyricism. This song is a complete pop package that can feel familiar and strangely refreshing at the same time.

The only thing that this music project is lacking is friction. The storytelling and the progression of the soundscape seems to just there but not growing. It is not a daring Jin material rather showcases the vulnerability of love and relationships. The music project can easily steal a solid 8 out of 10 and fans will decide the rest. “Don’t Say You Love Me” is definitely going to pave Jin’s solo musical career even further.
