Sabrina Carpenter drops the dazzling ‘Tears’ video featuring Colman Domingo in drag, released with her seventh album ‘Man’s Best Friend’, packed with bold energy.

The long-awaited record finally dropped Friday, paired with the striking video for its second track, ‘Tears’. The video features Colman Domingo in drag. The cinematic clip begins with Carpenter in a pale blue skirt suit and wide sun hat, regaining consciousness after a car crash. Her boyfriend appears lifeless in the driver’s seat as she stumbles from the wreck and wanders toward a desolate house in the middle of nowhere. Curious and shaken, she peers through the doorway and catches a glimpse of fishnet-clad legs inside.
Before she can process what she has seen, the door creaks open and pulls her into a surreal encounter. Waiting for her is Domingo, dressed in a cropped pinstripe suit with bold red lipstick, exuding both menace and allure. The sequence captures the eerie tension of the track itself, blurring reality and dream in a way that is both unsettling and captivating. The camera trails the singer through crooked halls and tilted rooms, each turn revealing dazzling characters and wild and unpredictable scenes. You can see chaos sparkling in every corner, yet the star moves with purpose. She sings the chorus as if she is guiding the madness. The surreal setting becomes her own stage, which blends glamour and disorder into one captivating performance. In the chorus, Carpenter sings, “I get wet at the thought of you/Being a responsible guy/Treating me like you’re supposed to do/Tears run down my thighs.”
The lively dance break unfolds with Domingo shimmying beside the ‘Espresso’ singer. He adds flair to their surreal journey. The moment then bursts with playful energy. As the video ends, the Grammy winner delivers a cheeky reminder to the audience, “You have to give the people what they want.” This further sealed the spectacle with charm.
The video quickly gained over 1 million views, and her fans are more than excited to see Sabrina in this new role. The comments on YouTube under the video have been nothing but supportive, with YouTube itself commenting, “no one does a music video like sabrina”. Some of the other comments read, “The fact that this MV is giving Rocky Horror reference and we all are here for this!”, “I just love it when actors become popstars because they give us top-tier visuals, cinematography, and acting like this. What an amazing crossover.”, “This isn’t just a MV, this is a whole movie! Love this”, etc.

Carpenter’s seventh studio album ‘Man’s Best Friend’ delivers 12 tracks, where 10 songs are marked explicit. It is a bold move that aligns pretty well with her daring image. The tone was set early with its provocative cover art that showed the ‘Taste’ singer posed on her hands and knees while someone grabs a fistful of her blonde hair, sparking controversy even before the album’s release.
At the Spotify release party for the album, Carpenter commented on the album-making process. She said her new album was “all about sort of embracing spontaneity, all about embracing impulses that I was having and experiences that I was having that were really urgent to write about.” “And knowing that if I didn’t make this album and have it represent the chapter of my life that it represents, that it would have never been this album. It would have turned into something else, and I think that would have done it as a service to the album,” the singer continued.
