The Bangtan Boys are back in their aura, and they are making the BTS ARMY happy with their latest single. ‘Hooligan’ marks the epic return of the K-pop boy band BTS, which has a global popularity and millions of fans. The song appears in the latest project ARIRANG, and it was also released with an official music video. Each of the members from the band, namely V, Suga, Jung Kook, Jimin, Jin, RM, and j-hope, is noticeable in their finest forms, which showcases the maturity of the band, the talented artists who have been performing together for many years.

The official music video for the ‘Hooligan’ was released on Tuesday, April 7, and it offers a dystopian sonic experience with its ambiance, set design, and musical approach. Any BTS song is supposed to have a powerful choreography, and this song is a part of it too. The music video includes a variety of barren and dystopian sections and performances that suggest an apocalyptic timeline, or a perfect time to be a hooligan, again. The excessive use of black color, leather, and balaclava also helped to develop the theme and offered a high-octane energy. It is evident that BTS popped out and “actin’ a fool again”. And the contagious laugh used as a bar, “Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha, hooligan”, is quite genius use. But the best part of the music video is casting Soojoo as a silent but powerful presence. The model is currently in her 40s and seems to be aging back somehow.

However, the powerful production is unable to provide any new material for style for BTS that can make them stand out. The lyrical approach in the track is quite weak, and the chorus does not offer a hook. Although the verses have a good flow, they feel quite repetitive around the keyword ‘hooligan’. Although the song is meant to be highly powerful, it also feels lethargic for putting in less effort. The musical arrangement of the song is unique, and it blends modern music elements with old-school instrumentation. It is a fresh approach that adds more sonic attraction to the track. It is good to see how K-pop is adapting the idea of old-school hip-hop when rappers could perform with soul samples.

‘Hooligan’ has successfully teased the album ‘ARIRANG’, which was released in March, and it is currently revolving at the center of everyone’s attention. It is the second week for the album to stay at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. The album has already gained much attention with the popularity of the singles, namely “SWIM” and “2.0.” The lead single, “SWIM,” is also released with an official music video, and the sleek visuals are also available for “2.0.” But, somehow, there is a sense of monotony in the music project. The fans of BTS might disagree, but it seems like the latest album is not as creative as the previous ones. Either way, the band is back together after each member served their mandatory military service and embarked on a solo career.

The music video for ‘Hooligan’ was released just two days before BTS starts their highly anticipated world music tour. The tour is starting from Goyang Stadium in South Korea with three performances, and the tour will continue till 2027. There will be several performances across various cities in the regions of Europe, Australia, Asia, North America, Latin America, and other parts. The world tour will also unfold the hidden track from the album by SUGA and RM, which they have already teased through a livestream. Stay tuned to find out more about BTS.
