Mark Newman

The pioneering singer and songwriter Mark Newman still remembers the cold and hideous incident that took place 100 years ago in Tulsa. He reminds all the Americans that the nation still bleeds for the inglorious event that scarred the history of the United States. He composes a lyrical grandeur in the new music release Tulsa’ that is co-written with Walter Roberti. He sings it in honor of the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 (which will be commemorated on Memorial Day for the 100th time). The Tulsa race massacre (also known as the Tulsa race riot, the Greenwood Massacre, the Black Wall Street Massacre, the Tulsa pogrom, or the Tulsa Massacre) took place on May 31 and June 1, 1921, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when crowds of white residents attacked Black residents and businesses in the Greenwood District. They had been deputized and given arms by city officials. According to others, it was “the single deadliest act of racial brutality in American history.”

Mark Newman brings the zeal to embrace the rich culture of the nation and commemorates the past contributions and sacrifices made by certain communities in the United States. At least 800 people were injured due to the Greenwood Massacre and 36 people died. He wants to show respect to those souls that the country has lost in this shameful episode in the new song ‘Tulsa’.
