Country Musician Travis Tritt Cancels Gigs and Shows Maintaining COVID-19 Safety Protocols Stirring Controversy

Travis Tritt has sparked controversy yet again after canceling four concerts across venues imposing mandatory COVID-19 protocols. The musician announced that he will extract from performing at the venues in Indiana, Mississippi, Illinois, and Kentucky.

All venues across these aforementioned states are imposing safe protocols and restrictions including wearing masks, negative Covid-19 test results, or proof of vaccination for concertgoers.

Tritt told Billboard about this social misjudgment that he is “not against the vaccine ”but “against forcing people to take medicine that they may not need and may not want.” He further added, “I totally disagree with any mandate that would force people to go against their better judgment or would attack their personal freedoms. That’s why I am making this stand. And I know, straight up, it’s definitely gonna cost me money and that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.”

He also made controversy in August when he came out with a statement saying that that he strongly believes that these safety protocols and restrictions are ‘discriminating’ to all concertgoers. Tritt who is 58-years-old also shared that he still plans to perform at venues without guidelines. He made his concerns clear after a few fans reached out to him saying that they were turned away from buildings because they were not vaccinated or were unable to provide a negative test report.

He expressed his views about the issue on Tuesday to Fox News host Tucker Carlson saying he was “putting my money where my mouth is” by refusing to perform and then canceling his concerts at venues that require safety measures for all attendees.

With this, he becomes the latest celebrity to speak out against vaccination or masking rules. He also told Carlson, “This is trying to divide people. This is trying to shame people. This is trying to basically discriminate against people they don’t feel are clean enough to be a part of enjoying a concert like that.”

This is not the first time that the country music star stirred social controversy. A two-time Grammy winner in the 90s, he has been blocking many on Twitter who supports the Black Lives Matter movement and oppose former President Donald Trump, in an effort, he said, to slow down anti-conservative sentiment on the platform.

On Monday, he further fueled the issue by saying on his website, “pushing Covid testing protocols on my fans will not be tolerated.”

With all that has been going on in the world, his words boil down to sentiments over global safety the judge of which is the common man itself who will decide their future and life in due course.
