American singer-songwriter Tom Morello has just announced the details of his upcoming album, ‘The Atlas Underground Flood’ which will be released next month on December 3rd. The album will feature a lot of iconic artists like Kirk Hammett, Jim James, IDLES, Barns Courtney, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Alex Lifeson, Nathaniel Rateliff, X Ambassadors, Manchester Orchestra, Ben Harper, and many more. Just last month, the musician has released his solo album, ‘The Atlas Underground Fire’ and he has announced the release of his next album already. His previous album is a sequel to his 2018 album, ‘The Atlas Underground’.

The forthcoming album has been previewed on November 17th by sharing three songs from it already. The first song, ‘Human’ features Barns Courtney, the second one, ‘Hard Times’ features Nathaniel Rateliff, Jim Jones, and Chipotle Joe. In the third song, ‘Raising Hell’ he collaborates with Ben Harper. While talking about the album, the gifted artist said that the new album will be finishing up what ‘The Atlas Underground Fire’ started. He described fire and flood as his ‘London Calling’. He further said that he decided to create a double album ‘where artistic intent supersedes genre’ admiring The Clash at their greatest moment.

Before he announced the release of the album, he performed the song, ‘Hold the Line’ on The Tonight Show with Grandson. The track is a part of his upcoming album, ‘Atlas Underground Flood’. It was recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic. He started working on the tracks in his Los Angeles home studio and then sent them to the collaborating artists across the globe. The songs came out exceptional even though the artists sang their part while they were miles apart. The songs that have already been released have gained the green signal from both the music industry and the fans.

According to Tom Morello, he had no access to a sound engineer during the lockdown. He had no way but to record the guitar parts on the voice memo of his phone. Though initially, he thought it was a dangerous idea, it brought his freedom in creativity. He had to trust his instinct while playing guitar rather than over-think every bit of his performance. He said that the album acted as a life raft in his life at the time of despair and helped him find new ways to create new artistic connections transforming fear and anxiety into musical expressions. The album is now available for pre-order.
