Ed Sheeran’s ‘Autumn Variation’ Review: Flat And Finite

4.1/5by Daily Music Roll

Ed Sheeran is back with his second album ‘Autumn Variation’, a 14-song album packed with unexciting gloominess and laid-back essences, not ideal to the “Sheeran vibes”.

After the release of this album, most Sheeran fans raged to get these plodding genre-swapping songs mostly lacking imagination. With the release of Ed Sheeran’s second studio album ‘Autumn Variation’, you might not imagine him as the modern-day national bard but. His soul-touching numbers have been extremely popular but the artist’s latest release is nothing close to his previous releases. The lack of imagination and the gibberish lyrics will make you repulsive.

“Last autumn, I found that my friends and I were going through so many life changes. After the heat of the summer, everything either calmed, settled, fell apart, came to a head, or imploded,” Sheeran said, during the announcement of the album.

He also added, “When I went through a difficult time at the start of last year, writing songs helped me understand my feelings and come to terms with what was going on, and when I learned about my friend’s different situations, I wrote songs, some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at that time. There were highs of falling in love and new friendships among lows of heartbreak, depression, loneliness, and confusion.”

According to popular beliefs, the singer is getting his fans into the spirit of changing leaves. But the experience of this album was nothing but disheartening. The ballads of this bard are lacking in comprehensive thoughts. And the album can be precisely described as an unimaginative and “utterly unremarkable British bloke”.

The doodles on the album cover are far more pleasing than the songs of this album. Probably the artist has been missing his not-so-popular times. And people mustn’t judge people at their lowest, but if they choose to release an entire album like ‘Autumn Variation’, then people will be raged to witness something like this.

Writers from every corner of the world are willingly and unwillingly using AI to help in their writing. The ‘Perfect’ singer might consider using one for this not-so-perfect release. ‘Autumn Variation’ has a teaspoon amount of merit, which can’t be compensated by his charming vocals. He is a good singer but repeating himself numerous times is not a good idea for a growing career. Sadly, his Magical England Amazing Plastic Bag will not last long.
