Kangana Ranaut said Grammys and Oscars Should be Boycotted for Not Paying Tribute to Lata Mangeshkar

Kangana Ranaut has asked her fans to boycott any western awards, as the Grammys and Oscars have failed to pay homage to the legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar.

Kangana Ranaut said Grammys

The celebrated Indian actress Kangana Ranaut, vocalized her disappointment after witnessing that the music goddess of India Lata Mangeskar’s name was missing from the Memoriam ceremony of the 64th Grammy.

On the last Sunday’s show, the Grammys have paid their tributes to several musical legends including Stephen Sondheim and Taylor Hawkins, but not Lata Mangeskar. Prior to this, the Oscars were widely criticized for not having mentioned her name. Both of these ignorant behaviors have raged Indians widely.

Kangana Ranaut wrote about her dissatisfaction by saying, ‘We must take strong stands against any local awards who claim to be international and yet ignore and intentionally sideline legendary artists because of their race or ideologies… both Oscar and Grammy failed to give tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Ji…’

Adding more, ‘our media should totally boycott these biased local events who claim to be global awards…’ she said, ‘We should boycott these snooty western awards.’

The wave of disappointment that started right after the Academy Awards for not having the name of Lata Mangeskar mentioned the Memoriam segment is at its peak now Grammys, which is meant to be an award dedicated to the music artist from all over the world, have done the same.

Twitter is flooding with tweets related to this. Another person shared Kangana’s IG stories picture and wrote, ‘I agree with Kangana. Lata Didi was bigger than #GRAMMYs. Us Indians always go gaga over Grammys, Golden Globes and Oscars, without even having proper knowledge, but then the same people troll Indian Awards. Someone had the guts to say this #KanganaRanaut. #LataMangeshkar’

Another fan wrote, ‘No notable mention for #Lata Ji during #Oscars & #Grammys is their loss, not ours. Why do Indians seek validation from the West for things that are beautiful & do not require any validation?’

Abhishek Singhvi, a Congress leader tweeted, ‘No notable mention for #Lata Ji during #Oscars & #Grammys is their loss, not ours. Why do Indians seek validation from the West for things that are beautiful & do not require any validation?’

British Academy Film and Television Awards are commonly known as the BAFTAs featured Lata Mangeshkar’s name in their Memoriam segment.
