DMR. You have been surrounded by music from an early age. Could you tell us about your musical journey?
Kevin. I was just about 4 years old. When I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. I was fascinated with the music. I asked my parents for instruments such as the tambourine, bongo drums etc. My family was into music. When I was around 11, I asked for an acoustic red and black guitar. I also had a Magnus chord organ . As a teenager I started going to concerts, as well as buying records (yes vinyl). I had also started singing on stage at around 6 years old. I also sang in a performance of Jesus Christ Superstar. I was 12 at the time. I was a crowd member. Then I went on to Advanced Chorus in High school. At 18 I started playing bass guitar in the military in cover bands,
DMR. What inspired you to pursue music more seriously?
Kevin. After I came home from the military I had the amazing opportunity to be on stage with Metallica. At the time I said I was destined for music.
DMR. You make music from your personal experiences, memories, and emotions. How do you transform real-life experiences into such brilliant songs?
Kevin. Somehow the great life I was fortunate to be a part of lyrics come to me from memories. I am fortunate to put that in a melody and pick it out on Guitar or my piano.
DMR. Can you tell us more about your creative process?
Kevin. Well as I was answering from the last question. I guess so far I was dreaming of experiences that I’ve gone through. Just like other artists have even told me that it is something they read or just a memory writing it on paper and then making a melody or beat that goes with the words.
DMR. You have worked in many musical styles. How was your experience experimenting with
different types of music?
Kevin. The original idea behind trying different styles was to find what genre fit for me. But some of my most influential music stars I listen to have also worked different genres. I try not to stray too far away as Pop music works best but sometimes put a fusion of electronic or even Christian music. Like George Harrison whom I admired did My Sweet Lord that worked for him.
DMR. You have worked as a music artist for quite some time. What has been your biggest
challenge?
Kevin. Growing my fan base because of limited funds. I still appreciate everyone no matter if it is 100 or 100,000.
DMR. Beyond releasing music on streaming platforms, what are your plans for expanding your
reach?
Kevin. I have made singles and streaming albums . Right now we have selected some of our very best tunes from 2022 to 2026 and are working to make a physical CD . We also opened a shopify store, We aren’t the best but we have some nice ideas with room for improvement.
DMR. Are you planning to create new music in the near future that listeners can look forward to?
Kevin. Unfortunately this year I was diagnosed with third stage Esophageal Cancer. I have been delayed because of it. My treatments are going well and I do have 2 songs that I have been working on. I may see about giving my fans a free sneak peek at them.
DMR. What are your goals as an artist that you want to accomplish?
Kevin. I am really into music for enjoyment . I do get some really great comments. The best I have reached is around 46. As an Independent it isn’t easy to go ahead of a major artist. I will be happy to come up with a top 20 tune someday.
DMR. How would you like to describe your artistic growth?
Kevin. It has been challenging, but I love a challenge. Always learning about mixing and marketing, and promotions. They say it takes 6 years. Right now I am in my fourth year.
DMR. What knowledge have you gained about the music industry? Would you like to advise
something to rising artists?
Kevin. I have picked up loads of knowledge from other artists. From promotion specialists, curators to entertainment lawyers and just professional songwriters. Be careful of scams that make too good to be true promises.
DMR. Would you like to give any message to your listeners?
Kevin. I am always thankful to my listeners, I am always trying to make myself better, not all artists are right away. Please keep listening and sharing. That is how I can pass along any savings to you, my fans. I am even thinking of promoting some giveaways.
