Adéla Brings Hollywood Glamour to Life in ‘Nicole Kidman’

Music has always had a way of turning pop culture into something personal, playful, and unexpectedly revealing. Adéla takes that idea to another level with her new single ‘Nicole Kidman’. It is a stylish pop track that transforms admiration for one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars into a cheeky celebration of glamour and self-image. The accompanying music video brings Nicole Kidman’s most famous roles to life through Adéla’s own playful lens. Directed by Hannah Lux Davis, the visual is packed with references to some of the Oscar-winning actress’s most beloved films, including Eyes Wide Shut, Moulin Rouge, Birth, and Babygirl. It also pays tribute to Kidman’s instantly recognizable AMC commercial, creating a visual world that feels both cinematic and deliberately larger than life.

Adéla’s fascination with Kidman comes from a surprisingly personal moment. The singer recently explained of the song’s inspiration, “Somehow, I got invited to a Golden Globes event. I’ve never been in a movie, but I got all glammed up, put into a dress, had my hair done, and I looked really good. My hair was super bouncy, and my corset was so tight that I thought, ‘I feel like Nicole Kidman right now’. I actually watched Eyes Wide Shut, and became obsessed with her. To me, she is the movie star.”

That sense of fantasy carries directly into ‘Nicole Kidman’, which pairs a sampled introduction that recalls Kanye West’s ‘Bound 2’ with Ariana Grande-esque vocals. The production is polished and knowingly glamorous, giving the track the kind of carefully styled finish that could almost sound focus-grouped. Yet Adéla’s personality keeps the song from becoming overly polished or predictable. Her line, “Every single night/I pray that my tits are sittin’ right,” lands with exactly the kind of irreverent humor that makes the track difficult to hear without a smile.

Across her debut album Prima, Adéla continues to explore that balance between humor, confidence, vulnerability, and pop spectacle. On “I’m the Man,” she confesses to a love for androgynous beta males, while the trap-inflected “Starving Artist” takes a similarly playful approach to relationships. In the latter, she embraces hooking up with an ex who is still living in the same old dingy apartment, observing with a wink, “Nothing has changed, I see.” These moments give Prima personality without allowing the concept to turn into pure shtick.

‘Nicole Kidman’ arrives as part of Prima, Adéla’s debut album, which follows her debut EP, The Provocateur. Speaking to Rolling Stone last year, she described the difference between the two projects: “My EP was people realizing that Adéla is a good performer and artist, but I don’t think I’ve had the chance to build a world yet. I really want to do that with the album.” She also summed up her artistic direction with refreshing simplicity: “At the end of the day, I’m just a pop girl. I’m young, I’m going to be singing and I want to be dancing. And I want to be really honest.”

That honesty now arrives with a fully formed pop world. Adéla will begin her first-ever headlining tour next week, travelling across North America with stops in Detroit, Toronto, New York, Nashville, Atlanta, Seattle, Los Angeles, Mexico, and more. She will then head to Europe and the U.K. next year, with shows planned in Dublin, London, Berlin, Prague, Oslo, Warsaw, and beyond.
