Talented music artist Bebe Rexha is going fully independent now. This new era starts with The Super Dirty Cut version of ‘Dirty Blonde’ that offers snippets of 13 tracks.
Talking about this special cut for ‘Dirty Blonde’, Rexha said that it was made to “cater to how fans consider music today.” According to the artist, this will allow them to opt for their favorite tracks ahead of the release, and they can pick which song to roll out with. However, it can also be considered as a clever teaser angle where only one single release provides the taste of the entire album. She further added, “I just wanted to give every song its chance,” and also said, “I worked so hard on this album. It’s been three years now, and every song is so important me. They’re like your babies, you know? I don’t want to be conformed by a certain sound or certain boundaries.”
When it comes to the theme of the project, Rexha explained that she is embarking on this new chapter with more vulnerability rather than pleasing everyone. “I feel like a lot of people, they saw me through this lens of when I was trying to be, like, this perfect, clean-girl pop star,” then she said, “When you’re signed to a major, it’s a little bit stressful, you know? ‘Cause you’re trying to always make everybody else happy. A lot of the big songs that I had, too, were always in my computer I’d always written them and they were all basically ‘No’s’ from whichever label I was at.” Then she said, “Honestly, I haven’t been able to show [this] side of me until now. Now I have a label, EMPIRE, that just is allowing me to be myself purely, and they celebrate that, and that’s really cool.”
The ‘Dirty Blonde’ is a reflection of Bebe Rexha’s true self and an escape from “khia asylum”. This album project is a celebration of the artist’s prolific musical journey and an unwavering personality that is no more willing to compromise with the stereotypical norms of the pop industry. She is now in full control of the situation, and there is no turning back now.
