The long-awaited collaborative project has finally been released as Martin Garrix and Ed Sheeran have come up with their new song ‘Repeat It’, a return gift to fans on Garrix’s birthday.
‘Repeat It’ was initially decided to be released in 2015, and the making of the project started somewhere between 2014. These two artists are highly talented, and when two talents meet, something is bound to happen. In older interview of that time, Garrix said, “I met Ed in Los Angeles and we started talking and hanging out and I sent him a core progression, like not even a whole track, but just a core progression with like synths and he came back with an amazing top line on it and right now I’m finishing the track around it which is almost done and then we’re going to check how we can release it and put it out.” But the project was never released. Garrix also shared his issues of working with a poppy vocal while being a strictly house artist. Sheeran, on the other hand, was very happy to do something different than his guitar and a happy kid said, “my first EDM!”
12 years later, they are working together again, and the excitement is still intact like day 1. ‘Repeat It’ has also been released with an official musical video, and it perfectly showcases how time flies. In a recent interview, Garrix said, “We actually started this song 12 years ago in Nashville, and for the longest time I genuinely thought it would never be an official release.” And he also addressed the song as the “best gift I could’ve wished for.” The happy vibes of the duo can be felt through the latest song as well, with its beautiful lyrics and soft progressions. The subject matter of the track revolves around the title and the central idea of rewinding and repeating memories of loved ones.
