Bollywood movies in recent days have been lacking the sensation power in music that can captivate everyone. A similar type of romantic, heartbreak, and dance numbers made the industry saturated with familiar music. However, putting ‘Maskara’ over the jaded eyes, the latest song from ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ is offering a refreshing taste that has created a massive buzz among the listeners. ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ is made by Imtiaz Ali, and it is all set to release on June 12. As everyone knows. Imtiaz Ali’s movies are inclined towards beautiful storytelling of love and yearning, and this movie also has the context. ‘Maskara’ is the perfect representation of the romance in the story that is playful, pure, and joyous.

Composed by none other than AR Rahman, the song offers an upbeat tune that is created by a heavy use of traditional instruments like flute and dholak. Flutist Ashwin Srinivasan did a remarkable job in keeping up with the playful cadence of the song and made it more organic. Similarly, the percussion department by Dipesh Verma and Ratnadeep Jamsandekar handled the dholak, dhol, and other beats quite carefully, not to overwhelm the drama created by the flute. Irshad Kamil also enriched the song with his quirky lyricism. However, a special mention goes to singer Nilanjana Ghosh Dastidar, who not only provided the beautiful vocals but also handled the bass. There is no doubt she is uberly talented and so is Vedang Raina, who offers his soulful voice. Both of the singers have such expressive voices and crispy tonal quality that it feels like a theatrical progression with immersive moments. ‘Maskara’ truly deserves the love and hype that it created among the fans.

Now, when it comes to screen presence, Vedang Raina is also the one who acted in the movie and played the young self of the protagonist. His shy representation of an admirer perfectly goes with Sharvari’s playful nature, and their chemistry seems quite appealing to the audience. Watching Jiya and Keenu admiring each other with ‘Maskara’ in the backdrop is quite engaging. Sharvari recently said, “seeing audiences shower so much love on songs that I’m associated with feels incredibly meaningful.”

The song can be considered as a preview for the upcoming movie that involves a lot of emotions, but this song is dedicated to the Mischief of Romance. It offers a refreshing taste of movie soundtracks that is enjoyable for everyone, and that is something Bollywood desperately needed. ‘Maskara’ went viral right after its release, and it gathered 10 million views in no time. Another interesting fact is that the song has been used by the fans in more than 100,000 reels on Instagram, turning into a sensation for 2026.
