Veteran rock band Rolling Stone, embarks on a new musical chapter with the brand new album ‘Foreign Tongues’. The band collaborated with producer Andrew Watt for this project.

Besides the meticulous creation of each song, the album also deserves credit for its beautiful cover art. The cover is created by Nathaniel Mary Quinn, a talented painter from Chicago who created an image that seems like a piece of modern and contemporary art. The artist has successfully created a portrait of the band by painting a mashed-up picture with portions of each member’s face, including Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, and Ron Wood. The cover art feels grotesque but also aesthetic at the same time, offering a nostalgic vibe from the ‘70s or ‘80s when the band was at its prime. While the members might have been age-shamed for being too old, the latest album and its cover art perfectly show wrinkles of wisdom in music.
This is also the second collaboration with producer Andrew Watt, who seems to be great at working with veteran rockers. He is not only a fanboy of the band but also possesses the skills and mechanics of working with professional songwriters. The latest album is capable of bridging the gap between classic rock music and a modern, contemporary approach in pop music. There are choruses, pre-choruses, and many clippable moments that make it more attractive for modern audiences. But if compared with the creative value of the band’s prime era, this album is perhaps not up to the mark they are best known for. ‘Foreign Tongues’ consists of calculated creativity and craftiness, which is quite unique and seems extremely polished. In a nutshell, there is no room for abstract and breaking the rules, as every song is created with industry formulas.

Starting from the ‘Parachute Woman’, ‘Rough and Twisted’, to ‘Soul Survivor’, and ‘In the Stars’, each song from the album offers a smooth feeling without any rough edges. Listeners can find a political angle in ‘Covered in You,’ which is unique and provocative. Similarly, Mick Jagger can be found rapping the tracks “Shattered” and “Dance (Pt. 1),” which is not something fans of the Rolling Stones expected. While this album might not be a successful milestone on the band’s musical journey, it still reflects the initiation of a new chapter of musical creations.
The album ‘Foreign Tongues’ is mainly made from the leftover session materials from the previous album release of ‘Hackney Diamonds’. As a result, fans are considering it as a continuation of the previous album, as there are similarities between the tracks. However, the musical soundscape offers a major shift as it does not follow the mid-tempo mannered execution; instead, it offers an enticing and invigorating essence with robust and rhythmic design. The strength of Jagger’s voice has never been doubted by the fans, and he has proved his excellence as a rocker along with his bandmates through this album project. The Rolling Stones continue to roll with their creativity, and there’s no stopping now.
