The wait is finally over. Shah Rukh Khan just made his Met Gala debut, and yes, it was every bit as iconic as we hoped. The King of Bollywood pulled up to fashion’s biggest night in an all-black fit that screamed power and elegance. Styled by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, SRK rocked a dramatic floor-length trench layered over an unbuttoned shirt. The entire costume gave a major effortless drip.
But it is the accessories that really did the talking. We are talking about stacked bling and chunky choker chains, rings that sparkled louder than flashbulbs, and diamond-studded pendants with “K” and “SRK” front and center. Oh, and did we mention the tiger-topped walking stick? Because yes, he really went there. The Bollywood royalty did not just show up at the Met Gala 2025, he made the carpet his own runaway. Regal, bold, unforgettable – just classic Shah Rukh Khan. This debut was the fashion moment Bollywood was so desperately waiting for. King Khan just showed the world that did not come to play – he came to slay!!!

That moment quickly blew up online, with fans calling out the lack of cultural awareness at global events like this. Even though SRK is a massive name across India and much of Asia, the mix-up was a reminder that Western media still has some catching up to do when it comes to truly recognizing global icons.
Later in a Vogue interview, Sabyasachi Mukherjee spoke highly of King Khan’s global appeal. He described his vision stating, “Shah Rukh Khan is one of the greatest superstars in the world. A cinematic hero, his blockbuster performances and leading-man charisma have created a legendary international fan following. My interpretation of the Black Dandy is demonstrating his stardom on a global stage.”
When SRK was asked what he was most excited about, he smiled and gave credit to his children. He mentioned, “I have little kids who are most excited about the Met. I don’t know if I would have come here on my own, but when Sabya suggested that I should come, they went ‘Wow!'”
Shah Rukh Khan’s outfit featured a long, sleek coat made from fine Tasmanian wool. It was detailed with custom Japanese horn buttons engraved with his initials. The coat had a sharp design with a peak collar and wide lapels that gave it a bold and sculpted shape. Underneath, he wore a black silk shirt made from crepe de Chine that was casually unbuttoned at the chest. That went along with perfectly tailored wool trousers. A pleated satin kamarbandh (waist sash) tied the look together, adding both structure and a soft and elegant touch to the overall vibe.

SRK was definitely the first male actor from Bollywood ever to walk the blue carpet at the Met Gala. However, he was not the only one from India attending the event. Met Gala regular Priyanka Chopra Jonas made a statement on the blue carpet in a custom polka dot suit dress, expertly crafted by Olivier Rousteing for Balmain. Bollywood star Kiara Advani made her glowing Met Gala debut in a black-gold-white gown, featuring a heart-shaped plate for her baby. It was truly a beautiful and fashion-forward tribute to motherhood. Diljit Dosanjh also made a dazzling Met Gala debut in a regal Punjabi outfit, custom-designed by Prabal Gurung. His outfit proudly showcased his cultural roots with unmatched style!
