Their unique music creations not only stand for charming music and lyricism, but also the blend of modern music with traditional culture. And that is what made this alternative metal fusion band different from all. In addition to that, the deep lyricism also showcases the brilliant talent of the band. DMR: A huge congratulations to NepCali for achieving such a huge response from audiences on ‘Mahakali’. What do you want to say about the response from the listeners?
NepCali: Thank you so much. Honestly, the response has been overwhelming. Seeing people chant “Mahakali” back at us during shows and stream the track globally is humbling. It shows us that music truly connects beyond borders, cultures, and languages. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who has embraced our sound and energy.
DMR: What was the journey of making this EP?
NepCali: It’s been an intense yet beautiful journey. From late-night writing sessions to recording with some incredible musicians, every step was full of passion and dedication. We poured our life stories, struggles, and inspirations into these songs, and with Dennis Moody producing and Fernando Jaramillo on drums, the whole process felt like a dream coming true.
DMR: What was the inspiration behind each song of the EP?
NepCali: Each track reflects a piece of our journey. “Om Namah Shivaya” is our prayer and grounding energy. “Mahakali” is about strength and facing darkness head-on. “Hope” is for unity and uplifting people during hard times. “Warrior” speaks about resilience. “No Regrets” reminds us to live fully, and “Distraction” is about breaking free from modern chaos. Every song has a story tied to life experiences and what we see happening in the world.
DMR: You have come up with a unique music creation. The blend of metal riff with a touch of Hindu culture. What is the reason behind it?
NepCali: Our roots are Nepali, and we wanted to bring that cultural depth into a genre we grew up loving—metal. Fusing heavy riffs with mantras, spirituality, and cultural references felt natural. It’s not just music; it’s our identity expressed through sound.
DMR: The lyrics are quite amusing. What has inspired you to come up with such lyrics?
NepCali: Most of the lyrics come from real emotions, conversations, and reflections on what’s happening in the world. Some are personal, some are collective. They’re about hope, spirituality, and social awareness, all woven together with the power of heavy music.
DMR: You have worked with Dennis Moody and Fernando Jaramillo. How was the experience of collaborating with them?
NepCali: It was an honor. Dennis is a 7-time Grammy-nominated, platinum award-winning engineer—working with him elevated our sound massively. Fernando brought unbelievable power and groove to the drums. They both understood our vision, and together we created something that felt bigger than us.
DMR: Are you planning to make any public appearances recently?
NepCali: Yes! We currently finished our first phase of our Blessings Tour 2025 with shows across California—Long Beach, Bay Area, Sacramento, Joshua Tree, and more. We are booking more shows for our 2nd phase and hoping to travel Europe on 2026. We want to bring this energy to as many people as possible.
DMR: Are you working on any new music now?
NepCali: Absolutely. The creative flow never stops. We are back in the studio already and writing some more bangers. We are exploring new sounds that push our boundaries even further.
DMR: When will your listeners get to listen to your new soundtracks?
NepCali: For now, we want fans to fully experience Mahakali. But you can expect new singles and maybe even collaborations very soon—we don’t like to stay still for long.
DMR: You are a metal music band. Are you willing to try out any different genres in the future?
NepCali: We’re open-minded. While our core is ethnic metal, we love experimenting with acoustic, spiritual, and world sounds. We don’t like being in bubble and we are all about exploring different sounds.
DMR: Do you have any dream collaboration projects? If yes, then who do you want to collaborate with?
NepCali: Definitely. Collaborating with artists like Tom Morello, System of a Down, or even traditional Nepali and Indian folk musicians would be incredible. The dream is to merge worlds and create something timeless.
DMR: Would you like to give any message to your fans?
