Indian classical music keeps evolving and inspiring people with the help of artists like Rishab Rikhiram Sharma, who brings the classical flavors with a modern touch. This talented sitar player paid his tribute to the late legend Asha Bhosle at his performance in Kolkata. The concert drew more than 10,000 fans, and it was an amazing spectacle to witness for the fans in Kolkata.
Rishab is best known for his neo-classical creations, and the blended flavors of traditional and modern elements through the sitar do not fail to captivate audiences. The show was held at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, WBTPO, a place with a massive capacity, yet it was completely filled with the fans. The massive audience pool also showed how Rishab created a massive appeal for classical music among younger audiences.
The artist also explored the intricacy of raga through Kedar, Bihaag, Sham Kalyan, and Tilak Kamod. There is a seamless blend between the past and present, and Rishab does that effortlessly. He has a huge number of Gen Z fans, and many of them were present at the show to enjoy the multi-sensory performance.
The artist appeared on stage with his iconic electric sitar, SITARA, which is a custom creation by his father and master luthier Sanjay Sharma. Other than the beautiful instrument, Rishab himself was looking quite iconic with the outfit made by Tarun Tahilian.

The set list for the show was quite dynamic, with the original compositions like ‘Shiv Kailash’, ‘Shankara’, ‘Burning Ghat’, ‘Roslyn’, and ‘Belua’. He also offered his reimagined versions of popular soundtracks of the series, like Game of Thrones and Harry Potter. He also made sure to offer a nostalgic taste by bringing the taste of Bollywood’s evergreen tracks like ‘Zara Zara’, ‘Kal Ho Naa No’, ‘Tum Dekho Na’, etc., to name some.
Rishab also knows how to make the fans of Kolkata happy, which is best known for its Bengali people, and to tingle their senses, he performed a beautiful rendition of ‘Ekla Cholo’, a staple track to associate with. However, the most charming moment was when he performed ‘Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar’, in order to pay his tribute to the late legend Asha Bhosle.
He ended the show with beautiful compositions like Tandavam, Kautilya, Chanakya, Venkateswara, etc that concluded the night with a happy note. After Kolkata, the artist is heading to Chandigarh and Delhi for his next performances.
