Alka Yagnik Clarified Why She Was on Wheelchair after the Padma Bhushan Ceremony

The legendary singer in the field of Bollywood playback singing, Alka Yagnik, has finally received the Padma Bhushan Award for her valuable contributions to the music industry. A recent video went viral where the singer could be seen getting out of the ceremony in a wheelchair, and that made the fans highly concerned about her health.

Alka took a moment to address the video and clarified to her fans that she is doing better now, and she needed the assistance of the wheelchair as she was simply very fatigued after the long, eventful day. The ceremony took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 23, where the singer received the highest prestigious award for cultural contribution.

Alka Yagnik has deliberately avoided all kinds of public events in recent years as she has been suffering from ongoing health challenges. Watching the singer visibly tired and taking assistance to be out of the venue made fans concerned about her health. Her followers were quite worried, and the singer needed to clear the confusion before it turned into a rumor.

On the social media post, Alka shared her gratitude for the loving fans and clarified what happened. She said, “Thank you for your love, concern and countless good wishes,” and further added, “I have seen the concern surrounding a video from the ceremony and would like to assure everyone that I am well and progressing positively in my recovery.” The singer also said, “After a long and memorable day at the Padma felicitation, I was simply fatigued and requested a wheelchair while leaving,” and that explains it all.

She assured her fans about her health and said, “Please do not worry. I feel much better and remain deeply grateful for the prayers and support that continue to strengthen me.” While this is positive news that the artist is recovering, it is also saddening that the ceremony for one of the highest civilian honours in the nation is so systematic and grueling that a veteran singer with health issues had to be escorted in a wheelchair, while it could have been made convenient for all.\

Talking about the Padma Bhusan, Alka said, “This honour is deeply humbling, and while my name may be on it, it belongs just as much to every listener who welcomed my voice into their lives, carried my songs through generations, and stood by me through both the highs and the challenges.” Being humble to her core, she also said, “This moment feels especially meaningful because it marks not just a recognition of my work, but a reminder of the strength that comes from love, hope, and resilience. I am slowly finding my way back”.
