Armaan Malik Postponed the Release of ‘Gaya Kaam Se’ with Support for Students Protesting in Delhi

Revered Bollywood singer-songwriter Armaan Malik showed courage by postponing the release of his upcoming music project ‘Gaya Kaam Se’, supporting the cause of young Indian students. Armaan does not consider July 22 to be the right time to release his music, as students in the country are suffering.

The track was previously scheduled to be released on Wednesday, which also happens to be the Mumbai artist’s birthday. He posted a video on Instagram where he said that he had worked hard for the song, but it would be released when the time is right.

In the video, Malik said, “Hey everyone, this next song of mine, ‘Gaya Kaam Se’, I poured my heart into it and it is scheduled to release on 22nd of July which is tomorrow, which is also my birthday. But things just don’t feel right now and I feel like I want to wait a little longer and give it to you when the time feels right and when we’re in better circumstances. So yeah, I hope you understand.”

This heightens the respect for the artist among his young fans, as any other Bollywood personality has hardly spoken or shown any support for the students who are showing more spine than the celebrities. Malik’s decision came amidst the “Chalo Sansad” march by Cockroach Janta Party, where the students had decided to protest against the corrupt education system of India.

The students were protesting in silence at Jantar Mantar for the irregularities and constant paper leak situation of the NEET medical entrance examination, which caused the suicide of 20 students. The students demanded the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, who is the Union Education Minister.

This protest is also a part of activist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike for indefinite days, who was later removed by Delhi police by force and taken to Safdarjung Hospital. While students were unarmed, the Delhi police, with the government’s order, stopped the protestors by force and beat them with batons and abused them after trying to disperse them with expired tear gas cells. Several students are injured, and they are seeking justice against India’s government and education system.

While most popular artists have remained silent, Malik said, “I don’t claim to have all the answers, and I believe it’s important to understand every issue with care before speaking. But there are some values we should never lose sight of. Students deserve fairness.”

He further added, “Peaceful protests deserve respect. Empathy should never be conditional, and dialogue should never be met with indifference. Our country and its people deserve to be heard. Always.” Malik is a reminder that art is the biggest medium and voice of justice and revolution, and artists must use it to speak about people.
