A concertgoer’s TikTok video quickly went viral, showing McRae walking barefoot up a staircase on stage in a white bralette and matching hotpants before stepping into the dramatic finale. As the song reached its peak, she lay down in a pool of gold paint for several seconds before crawling back out, completely covered in gold. The striking visual continued as the ‘Greedy’ singer climbed onto a podium, spread the paint across her body, and finished the performance by raising her arms in a triumphant pose. A bold theatrical moment quickly sparked excitement across social media, where fans praised the performance for its creativity and confidence. “This is iconic,” one fan wrote on TikTok. “She should be dipped in gold. She’s the gold standard!” another said.
The gold-covered reveal also completed a carefully planned series of outfit changes throughout the set. McRae opened the show in a white strappy crop top featuring ribbon detailing, paired with low-rise flared pants. Interestingly, Lollapalooza was not the first stop for the eye-catching performance. McRae had debuted the same gold paint sequence just one night earlier during her headlining appearance at the 2026 Osheaga Festival in Montreal. She later reshared a clip from the show on her Instagram Stories, in which she wore a black ribbon top with matching hotpants before stepping into the gold paint and recreating the now-viral moment.
The back-to-back festival appearances marked a significant career milestone for the Grammy-nominated singer, who headlined both Osheaga and Lollapalooza on consecutive nights for the first time. Speaking to the Montreal crowd, McRae expressed her excitement about performing at home. “I am so f—ing excited to be back home,” McRae told the crowd in Canada, per Billboard. “Montreal, in my opinion, has always been one of the loudest crowds on tour. And y’all know I’m Canada down.”
