Adam James Watson’s Debut Song, ‘I’ve Had It With You,’ Offers a Raw Perspective to Audiences

Talented singer-songwriter from Somerset, Adam James Watson, is making a grand initiation of his music career with debut track ‘I’ve Had It With You’. The song was released under the label of Young Oultaw Music, and it offers an engaging essence of country-pop along with rock-like elements. While the song creates a buzz among music lovers, we thank the artist for sharing a few words with us regarding his musical journey and label debut.

Adam James Watson

DMR: Congratulations, Adam, on your debut release! How are you feeling right now?

Adam: I am feeling good thank you particularly as we are having a great summer over here in South West of England with plenty of sunny weather and with the release of my debut single ‘I’ve had it with you’ with Young Outlaw Music that fits in very nicely with how I feel about the song and particularly how well it was produced by the incredibly gifted Country Artist & Producer Chris Rettig with such a warm upbeat Country Rock feel to it.

DMR: Tell us about the creative process behind ‘I’ve Had It With You’.

Adam: I play around with chords a lot either on the guitar or the piano to try and come up with exciting chord structures/progressions that will milk a song of its excitement and emotion. The Beatles Queen and U2 for example have always been great at doing this with plenty of Major to minor chord changes or major to 7 chord changes which I have always felt give songs that extra lift.

DMR: After a long time of songwriting, you finally made the first major release. What caused the delay?

Adam: I first started out sending Demos to Major Record labels back in the 1990’s and the majority of the time got very positive and constructive feedback or would be asked to try and write for another major chart act of the time but found that quite difficult as I have a style that I find I just naturally write in but was particularly encouraged when I received a very positive response in a hand written letter from Jeff Lynne of ELO fame after sending him a 10 track demo and then also going for three auditions with Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams Song Writer) band the

‘Lemon Trees’ and being short listed to the final three singers after sending him the same ten track demo that I’d sent to Jeff Lynne. So really it wasn’t until the beginning of 2026 when I

thought I would start sending out music again that ‘Young outlaw music’ from the US liked my two song demo that included the song ‘I’ve had it with you’ and signed me up so I am very grateful to them for believing in my music and helping me get it out there.

DMR: Who helped you to pursue music?

Adam: I have to say that my mother and father both play a major part in my enthusiasm for music as my father Clifford Watson sang Barbershop and actually went over to the states on a few occasions to learn more about Barbershop singing and arranging and he taught me a bit of basic piano as a child and always encouraged my musical endeavours but it was my mother who has always had great taste in music who would buy such great albums by artists such as Chuck Berry Elvis Presley The Beatles Don McLean The Rolling Stones Queen and play them continually on the record player so I really absorbed a lot of the finest more passionate Pop/Rock music from the age of about five and then started to really learn rhythm and lead guitar in my teens that both my parents also encouraged and then went on to putting my hand to song writing when I was about nineteen and have just continued with that ever since along with regularly singing with my wife Sarah with a duo with my band and also solo and with my friend Jay performing covers and original material around Somerset Dorset and Devon in the south west region of England.

DMR: How did Young Outlaw Music help you?

Adam: I would say that from the off Young Outlaw Music helped me get back some self belief in the songs that I’ve written by liking the two songs I sent them and enthusiastically committing to backing me and helping me get my music heard by a far wider audience so I will be forever grateful to them for that as there are an awful lot of songs and song writers out there who would do anything for a break like that so yes definitely a big thank you to Young Outlaw Music for championing me and my music.

DMR: What do I think about the modern music industry?

Adam: I have to be completely honest here and say that I used to grumble a lot about the music Industry during the 80’s and the 90’s because you would be forever hearing stories of people being bullied or ripped off by the big players in the Major music industry back then but now the whole thing has changed for the better where musicians can take more control over there music and can utilise the internet and social media for getting publicity and net working and also the general climate for respect for one another has definitely improved since then where independent artists champion one another so I would say without doubt that the music industry today is a lot healthier than it used to be.

DMR: As a singer and songwriter from Somerset, do you consider your origin as an influence on music?

Adam: The answer to that question is a resounding Yes as I have always been inspired by the beautiful countryside in the south west of England and have lived in Somerset Devon and Dorset on and off from the day I was born and wrote a lot of my earlier and I would say strongest songs when I lived in a little hamlet called wick near Honiton in Devon from 1992 to about 1997 where I created a music room in my fathers cottage named endearingly ‘Huggins Cottage’ and bought a piano drum kit and bass guitar and home recording gear and started a marathon song writing and home recording spree interspersed with walks in the countryside

which was right there on the door step in a region of Devon designated as an area of ‘Natural outstanding Beauty’ and was particularly inspired at that time by the two George Harrison Albums ‘All things must Pass’ and ‘Living in the material world’ and one of Nick Drakes albums that our friends and immediate neighbours introduced me to at that time which have a

very earthy spiritual feel to them so yes most definitely I would say that where I live and where I’ve grown up in this particularly beautiful and rural part of England in the West Country has definitely had a big influence on my Song writing.

DMR: Your music carries country and rock flavors. Would you like to experiment with other genres?

Adam: I have always liked most genres of music including Classical that I listen to regularly but in terms of experimenting with other genres with my song writing I would certainly consider dance mixes of some of my songs if it suited the song but I would probably say that Pop Rock Country & Blues are the main styles I would probably more often that not incorporate into my song

writing and on top of that I am a huge fan of 1950’s Rock n Roll and Rockabilly so again I would certainly like to write or have a song arranged in those styles to.

DMR: Are you currently working on any upcoming music projects?

Adam: To be honest I have such a large back catalogue of songs and now solely focusing on my initial two song release with Young Outlaw Music I am currently just focusing all my creative energy on the promotion of my Debut song ‘I’ve had it with you’ as it is a song I have always felt was strong with a very catchy repeated hook/chorus and melody and I’d really like to see that song in particular get the notoriety and hearing that it deserves but yes once I have an opportunity to go back to writing some new songs etc I have already been playing around with several ideas on the keyboard and guitar that I have logged in my phone and have a number of gigs with my band and my wife lined up throughout the summer.

DMR: Can listeners expect an album from you soon?

Adam: I would love to bring an album out sooner than later but it is early days as I have only just hooked up with Young Outlaw Music in February 2026 who are based in Atlanta Georgia in the US and also with Chris Ritteg the incredibly gifted Country Singer Songwriter and Producer who has done such an incredible job producing my song ‘I’ve had it with you’ and so hopefully I will continue to work with Chris on my songs in the future which is an exciting prospect to think of a ten song album being produced by someone I am quite obviously in tune with musically and spiritually as myself and Chris share the same Christian Faith.

DMR: Share one motivational line or quote that inspires fellow emerging artists.

Adam: Interestingly I watched a brief video on TikTok by the Amazing and Renound Producer Mr Migg who helped Taylor Swift get her career under way and also works with and along side Young

Outlaw Music and he just simply says ‘You need to have a plan with your songs and music and a strategy’ and that just rang true with me and made a lot of sense and like he says not everyone is gong to specifically like your music so target audiences that already like music that sounds similar to your own and that little nugget of advice just makes a lot of sense to me.

DMR: Is there anything you want to tell fans about?

Adam: One thing I would like to tell fans is that I have a lot of ‘nice’ songs in the bank and that I definitely aim to not disappoint on any level and fully intend to give those listeners and fans who enjoy classic pop Rock music melodies and arrangements a pleasurable listening experience with every song release..in my view it would be impossible for me to write a boring song or a song with just three chords in it as firstly that just wouldn’t fuel my creative spirit and also all the bands and artists that have influenced me as a song writer from the past always wrote passionately and with excitement in there musical arrangements.
