Seungri, the former member of the Korean band Big Bang, was reported to the police for assaulting a man. Southern Korean media has published the news, and the report was filed at the Gangnam police precinct on Aug. 26.

Besides the press charges for assault, Seungri is already notorious, and he was previously found guilty of the Burning Sun case. Lee Seung-hyun, better known as Seungri, was pressed with nine charges, which include gambling, soliciting prostitution, and embezzlement.

According to the official report, Seungri was having dinner in the same restaurant with the alleged victim in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, and what escalated that to an assault is still a matter of investigation. While police are looking into the details, the singer cum actor denies the acts of violence.

Seungri admitted that he held a liquor bottle in order to stop a man from joining their table, but he did not swing it at him or try to beat him up. He said that an intoxicated man was repeatedly asking to join them, and the argument broke out after declining the request.

According to The Korea Herald, Seungri said, “It is true that I held a liquor bottle while telling him that I did not want him to join us, but I did not swing it or threaten him.” He further suggested that they parted on good terms, as they stayed and drank together later and even exchanged numbers on amicable terms. He also said that the man sent him a message about bringing a business proposal next week, but nobody knows what that proposal was.

Seungri had to leave Big Bang in the first place for his ties to the Burning Sun Scandal in 2019. Not only the band, but he had to leave the entertainment industry as nobody would offer him a job after his involvement in the scandal. With such a diverse case of multiple felonies, he was sentenced to only 18 months in prison. Initially, he was ordered to pay a fine of around 1.157 billion won and sentenced to 3 years in prison, but the sentence was reduced to half after appealing.

In 2023, Seungri got out of prison after serving his sentence. However, with this new incident of assault, he is having a hard time staying off the radar of crimes. According to Korean law, assault can lead to two years in prison and a maximum fine of 5 million, which changes to 5 years in prison and a maximum fine of 10 million in the case of aggravated assault.
