MTV VMAs 2026 was buzzing with the thumping energy of ‘Sawadika ’, with Lisa offering a powerful live performance of the song before the release of her upcoming EP.
Lisa brought a boxing theme for the ‘Sawadika’ live performance, and it was powerful enough for the audiences at the VMAs. The bars she spat felt raw and menacing, with lines like “I’m that bi*** on your TV and my Ferrari indigo,” and “La Lalisa, la diva, sawadika there she go.” Her unwavering personality as a popstar, rockstar, and rapper was reflected through the amazing performance.
VMAs took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, and it was roaring loud, with intense choreography, rapping, and singing offered by Lisa. There was a loving platform that the singer later on climbed onto, and it felt like a boxing club performance with raging activities. This song marks a high-octane addition to Lisa’s musical arsenal as she returns to rapping after a long time, and her bars are hard-hitting as usual.

The song ‘Sawadika’ has already gained much attention among listeners and is produced by Thom Bridges. Thom is best known for working with many celebrated artists and groups like John Summit, Katseye, and many others. ‘Sawadika’ also appears on the upcoming EP ‘Press Play’ by Lisa, which is all set to drop on October 23 under the label of LLOUD Co./RCA Records. This thumping hip-hop creation has successfully created a massive buzz and anticipation for the upcoming EP by the solo artist.
It was perhaps one of the best nights for Lisa, with the artist receiving the first award of the night for Best Pop at the MTV Video Music Awards. Overwhelmed with emotions, Lisa cried during her acceptance speech as she said, “All those late night dreams brought me here today.”

Lisa’s name can be found in three other categories at the VMAs, including Best Cinematography, Best K-Pop, and Best Editing. She is one of the top artists in the K-pop category, and she is competing against her own group BLACKPINK, which is nominated for the epic comeback project ‘Jump’. Lisa received a solo nomination for the track “Dreamer,” which appeared on the debut album ‘Alter Ego’ in 2025.
Lisa is currently on a streak of new projects, as right after the release of her EP, she is preparing for the documentary project ‘Always Lalisa ’, which is scheduled to premiere on October 12. She is also appearing for the Viva La Lisa residency in Las Vegas, where she will be performing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in November.
