Aerosmith is making an epic return after three years with a live performance, an All-Star Hollywood Bowl Show. Thursday, October 29, turned dreamy with the California Dream On: Aerosmith and Friends show. The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles was filled with a crowd who anticipated the energy they were about to feel.

It was supposed to be a 45-minute show by the “Walk This Way” band, and it became more powerful with the addition of the stars. This is the first appearance by the band after 3 years of hiatus as the lead singer; Steven Tyler has been suffering from a vocal injury, which is a common thing for a world-class singer whose voice can go beyond multiple octaves.

The new all-star show featured Foo Fighters drummer Dave Grohl, the Black Crowes, Guns N’ Roses, and actor Johnny Depp, who is also a bandmate of guitarist Joe Perry’s Hollywood Vampires. There were six songs by Aerosmith in the ending set.

Foo Fighters frontman Grohl joined forces with guitarist Brad Whitford, Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, and Perry, in place of Joey Kramer, the drummer and band co-founder. Kramer has been on a break from the group as he has been suffering from health-related issues. The band played some of the smash hit projects from their collection with Davi Grohl, which includes “Sweet Emotion”, “Back in the Saddle,” “Toys in the Attic,” and of course, “Dream On”. Johnny Depp showcased his guitar skills while performing the song “Train Kept a Rollin’.”

Tyler made sure to address the elephant in the room and also showed his gratitude by saying, “Before we say good night, I just want to say what a ride it’s been with my brothers — Joe, Tom, Brad and Joey. Fifty-five f–king years, and we’re the same f–king band that started fifty-five and a half years ago.” It was a wholesome moment, and Kramer had to hug Tyler after that, and he sat behind his drum kit. There was John Douglas as well, the current drum tech for Aerosmith. He filled in for Kramer’s absence of Kramer and provides ample support for the band to continue on their musical journey. The nostalgia hit hard with “Walk This Way,” a No. 10 hit from the 1976 Billboard Hot 100.

The musical night also featured a set of five songs from everyone’s favorite band Guns N’ Roses. They covered the early Aerosmith songs like “Season of Wither,” “Last Child”, “Nobody’s Fault,” along with their own mega hits like “Paradise City” and “Welcome to the Jungle”. The Black Crowes also did an incredible job by offering captivating covers of Joe Perry Projects.

Tyler is currently 78 years old, and after 5 decades of constant singing along with a fractured larynx, it is time for the artist to retire. However, something holds him back.
