There is a famous saying ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ but when it comes to music, is it really that easy to forget about an absurd album cover and just listen to it? Or perhaps, having such weird album covers can reduce the number of listeners just with the thought of what was the singer thinking while making the cover. The music industry is constantly evolving but it fails to offer music lovers an attractive cover for every release. However, sometimes these covers can take some unusual turn with their title and representation that does not just make it funny but also turns it into the worst album covers ever made.
When it comes to the worst album covers of all time, the retro era pays a special tribute to its not-so-advanced editing techniques. Although, an album cover does not always require a lot of elements to reflect the theme of the album; some music artists had agreed to take it a little too far. For instance, Wasnatch’s ‘Front To Back’ is the greatest example of how things can turn really stinky.
Reflecting yourself as the best rapper in the music scene is nothing new but taking a dump on the cover could be really considered as the ‘Hot S***’. Introducing Money Butt Naked, the real gangster of the rap scene. Not sure if it is one of the worst albums of all time, but the cover should evidently belong there.
Take a better look at this gentleman and the title of his album cover, ‘A Taste of Dick Black’. Probably, it is referred to the dynamic skills of this versatile instrumentalist. Similarly, there is Svetlana Grubbersolvik’s ‘My Lips Are For Blowing’ which explains her skills in playing the clarinet. The worst record album covers belong to every genre from rock and pop to jazz and there is no in-between. Black Sabbath’s ‘Born Again’ can be considered in the category along with Millie Jackson’s ‘Back to the s__t’. Udo Lindenberg once came up with an idea which worse than the title of the album. Whether it is the ‘60s, ‘70s, or ‘80s; worst covers became a part of every era. Paddy Robert’s ‘Songs for Gay Dogs’, The Frivolous Five’s ‘Sour Cream & Other Delights’, Freddie Gage’s ‘All my friends are dead’, and many other albums are also part of the list.
