BTS is a name that everyone looks up to. BTS Army is spread across the world. However, only a few of its fans know what the acronym of ‘BTS’ stands for

What does BTS stand for?

Recently BTS made the headlines with their announcement of pursuing a solo career. In the past few years, the K-Pop music band has seen so many ups and downs. However, they are known for their fan’s love and support for their quality of music. In turn, fans also love to claim themselves as the BTS army. One of the most recent achievements of the band was notching five number 1 hits in less than a year. They are the first group to achieve this feat since Michael Jackson’s 5 in 1970.

As they are gaining fans every moment, the new fans must be wondering “what does the BTS stand for?” Though the band name has a couple of meanings, neither of them means “behind the scenes”. This is the name that fans often tend to mistake for the acronym of BTS.

BTS

The motive of the band members:

First of all, in the Korean language, BTS stands for, “Bangtan Sonyeondan”, meaning a group of Bulletproof boys. In an interview with Affinity, in 2016, one of the members of BTS stated that they chose the name “Bangtan Sonyeondan” because they can block out the stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim at the adolescents like bullets. In the initial days of their career, the band expressed the concept behind the logo of a bulletproof vest. Even their song also supported the motto they carried- Attack on Bangtan” and “We Are Bulletproof Pr. 2.”

BTS Army and “values of adolescence”:

This is why the band has named their fans “Army” corresponding to their theme and motto. After BTS gained immense popularity in 2017 after their Wing Tour, across several countries and continents like Asia, South and North America, they changed their logo to reflect their growth as a music band. The septet confirmed that the army is going to be “beyond the scenes” of their identity. The band stated that they would be trying to “protect the adolescents and their values”.

However, their motto started multiplying with the former one, their motive is to represent the young generation that doesn’t settle” and “ceaselessly progresses forward, beyond the current scenes of reality it faces.”

BTS keeps their message behind “Bangtan Sonyeondan” to this date alive through their lyrics. In their 2020 album Map of the Soul:7 track, “We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal, they sing, “Throw stones at me/ We don’t fear anymore/ We are we are together, bulletproof.”

BTS and its ideology:

The members of BTS also said in an interview that the younger people do not get enough credit for their thoughtfulness and creative thinking. People think they are not just smart enough to handle creative things. So, someone needs to protest the adolescent people.

BTS and BTS army:

No matter what name you want to align with them, they have never stopped impressing their fans with their performances. Fans have positive-mindedly accepted the quality they have produced on stage. They came right from nowhere and managed to rule millions of hearts with their charm. Although they achieved success very early, they never stopped doing hard work. They have worked hard more than many singers can’t even imagine. This is why they get immense support from the Army. Whenever they are trolled or bullied online, fans come up with some solid counters.

As they are supported by their fans, the members – Jungkook, Jin, V, RM, Suga, J-Hope, and Jimin have become louder and better every year.

 The moment of heartbreak:

Recently BTS announced they are setting apart and going to pursue solo careers. Fans broke down across several social media platforms after the news was published. Although they promised that they would come back after a while, the fans remembered the same promise made by One Direction almost 8 years back. After the exit of Zayn Malik, the band fell apart and announced to pursue solo careers for a while. The prolonged wait of fans has never ended. This time, the pessimist fans get upset over the announcement of their separation.

The managing agency of BTS said, “BTS is not taking a hiatus. Members will be focusing more on solo projects at this time.” It further added, “BTS will start a new chapter that combines team and individual activities. It will be a time for each member to grow through various activities, and BTS will become a long-running team in the future. We expect that it will become a source of nourishment for us. For this, we will actively support at the label level.”

Hopefully, Army won’t need to wait for long to see BTS reunited and ruling the world together.
