Tizzy TEACH

DMR: Great job with ‘Show Love’! What was your idea behind making this song?

A: My idea for the song was to create something you can vibe out and smoke to in the night. Something dark sounding, yet sexy. As an artist I feel like we should be continuously evolving, and with songs like this where I don’t want to spit straight bars, this is a good break feel that yet introducing harmonies and more melody into the music. I feel like that’s what separates being just a rapper from being a great artist. Having that range. Where people don’t necessarily know what to expect with the next release. I think it sparks that curiosity in them thinking what’s next? What’s it going to sound like? Though I do have my “go-to” sound. But I just want to do and be more.

DMR: ‘Show Love’ is quite different from your earlier release ‘Have a Good DAY’. How do you manage to adapt to every soundscape?

A: I would say it’s a feeling. Or a mood. One day I could be feeling uppity and active and the next I could want too just be alone. But I feel like its human nature. We feel these feelings in our everyday lives, I’m just finding and creating a way to be able to express these feelings in my music.

DMR: When did your first start making music? What was the inspiration behind it?

A: I first started making music right after graduating high school. I was kinda just messing around but it was definitely a different me. I had to find my angle and what it is I wanted to say and grow into who I’m becoming. My inspiration back then an has still been to create music I wanted to hear. To have something to look back on and have a level of pride in anything I touch or do with this music stuff.

DMR: Tell us more about some of your creative influences who helped pursue your passion.

A: When it comes to my creative influences I would say, I’ve got such a range of music I listen to that it’s like I’ll take pieces of a little bit of everything and all of what I find are the best pieces I incorporate and make it me. So it could be like Nirvana, to partynextdoor, to rage against the machine, incubus, Isaiah rashad, Drake, snoop, Dre, curren$y, The Game, nipsey Hussle the list goes on man.

DMR: What are your views on the new-age hip-hop music industry?

A: It doesn’t bother me none. I’ve always liked a challenge and the fact there are so many people trying to implement the radio friendly, or label route (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but I don’t have really anyone I see too often in my lane. So with that comes creating something that’s authentic and me. Things change all the time in the music industry, and it seems people want something a little closer to touch these days. So im just going to keep doing me because it’s what’s got me this far you dig.

DMR: How do you like to craft your tracks? Do you prefer the tune first or the bars?

A: It really just depends on how the song hits me. Sometimes it’ll be the melody and sometimes words just want to come out and then I get to work on whichever comes first.

DMR: Being a seasoned hip-hop artist, what tip you would like to give to emerging rappers?

A: To find your lane and go. Do what feels real to you and your artistry wherever it takes you. That’s you

DMR: Is there any upcoming musical project you are working on? Please shed some light?

A: Right now, I’m in the midst of releasing the music from this project. “Have a Good DAY”. I just released the project single also titled “Have a Good DAY” and have now just followed up with another song “Show Love” I’ll be having releases all year long from this project and a WHOOOLE bunch from doing features with artists. There’s so much Tizzy music coming out there’s something in there for everybody.

DMR: From skateboarding to hip-hop, you have done it all. Still, is there any personal preference?

A: No, I wouldn’t say there’s a preference. I say that because while skateboarding works me out physically, I would say creating music works out my mental. So sometimes I need one, sometimes I need the other. If I’m burnt from creating music I’ll skate and since my head is focusing on not falling it’s a good escape from thinking of music to give my creativity that break.

DMR: Has skateboarding helped you churn out more music?

A: I’d say it’s helped by sometimes when I create a song, I’ll wear it out play it over and over an over. When I skate, I can have it on repeat and when I’m in the mixing stage of music I’ll hear the errors and make a mental note of them to mess with later.

DMR: Is there anything you want to tell your fans?

A: Ya, be you, be love and at the same time F.T.N.
