Following the release of Afs Williams’ uniquely sassy music video ‘Take Over The World’, we caught a priceless interview with the EDM artist to find out his eidetic experience while making the video. The Australian artist was shot to fame with the viral hit single ‘Head Up’. Now, he controls the momentum of the pompous electronic music paradigm in big cities of Asia, Europe & the United States. 1. First of all, three cheers to the success of your new music video ‘Take Over The World’. We are glad that you found time for us. How are things where you are right now?
– It’s my pleasure, thank you for the support & love it means a lot to me. It’s quite unfortunate that the world is in turmoil at the moment however, Australia is doing its best to stay positive & remain optimistic
2. Your music video looks brilliant. No doubt you have the sheer talent to roll out modern techniques of electronic music and employ them on this dance/electro-pop music video. How did you get the idea of making such cool, exciting music?
– I don’t necessarily categorize music in precise genres I believe in futuristic music. All things must grow and change so we’re always trying to push boundaries with sound, ideas & themes. I’m glad that you guys like it, haha.
3. What is your real name?
– Damm haven’t they created a Wikipedia page about me yet? Let’s just say you can call me Mr. Williams, haha.
4. How did you come up with the stage name?
– The name Afs is dedicated to someone I love dearly & William was my grandfather who recently passed Away so It was no brainer To vibe with something I’m passionate about.
5. What is the exotic music video about?
– The idea behind the music video was quite spontaneous due to the pandemic we had to really get creative but essentially we wanted to integrate the club scene with some eye candy & visually appealing colours.
6. What does music mean to you?
– Music is an expression, Music is a reflection, Music defines the soul. When all else fails.. put yo headphones on and play some music, haha.
7. What kind of a musician you would call yourself?
– A unique one that’s for sure. I’m extremely passionate about creating amazing music for all types of people of all ages, but I do my best to remain grounded and stay humble. So, if I can inspire the next generation then I’ve done my job right!
8. The lyrics are catchy and bold. What are the threads between the lines of the latest music video?
– Take Over the world initially came from the idea of being at work and doing long overtime hours and talking to your better half about how we would take over the world together. Dreaming beyond your ambitions.
9. You are the face of Urban & Electronic music of this generation. What was the journey like?
– Haha, apparently that is what they claim in Australia. It has been difficult integrating both Hip-hop and Dance music into a new vibe but I believe we’re up for the challenge.
10. ‘Beautiful Disaster’ has sold thousands of copies. Why do you think people loved you in this single?
– I’m extremely grateful for the success of Beautiful Disaster & I really would like to show my love to my supporters. I think beautiful disaster was so successful because we took it back to Hip-hop and urban music. Australia really vibes with Rap music these days.
11. Do you want to suggest anything for the upcoming generation of musicians?
– Never take ‘No’ for an answer!! Discover your gift and push yourself to heights you never thought were possible.
12. Tell us about the new projects that we might listen to in 2021.
– 2021 is going to be a busy year, we’re excited to announce our next smash hit single ‘Cant Believe It’.
A lot of my time is spent in the studio, filming, creating – visualizing!
