Kajohn Cooper aka Ktl da soldier, the emerging hip-hop artist is introducing himself in the music industry with his profound pieces of work. The young and talented musician has recently come up with a soundtrack, titled ‘I’m a soldier’. The prowess lyricism and hooky music of the song has made it more appealing. With the magnificent soundtrack, the artist is reaching out to the mass audience. Recently we got the chance to meet him in person and had a chat over a coffee. This is how the conversation went:
DMR: Thank you Mr. Ktl da soldier for taking out your precious time for us. First of all congratulations on the big hit of your song ‘I’m a soldier’. The brilliant song has accumulated a lot of recognition. How did you come up with this masterpiece?
Ktl da soldier: I came up with the song after being in a beef with my long time best friend‘s boyfriend Brodie basically he started the beef and I’m finishing it.
DMR: Who or what inspired you to create this track?
Ktl da soldier: I was at my grandmothers house and me and my brother were trying to work on a song. and as we were working on it I came up with the idea I’m a soldier and how it was going to be a diss track about Brodie.There were many times Brodie told me he was gonna pull up and never showed up, and when I saw him he would dap me up and go yo what’s up ktl how you Been Like he was being an Internet Gangsta.
DMR: What is your biggest motivation to become a hip-hop artist?
Ktl da soldier: When I was growing up my brother and my two cousins used to always freestyle around me, so eventually as I got older I wanted to do it too so I would start freestyling as well Even though I was no good at the time, I still kept pushing myself then one day I came up with the rap name ktl ronn But how I got that name is for another time.
DMR: What has inspired you to become a musician?
Ktl da soldier: The fact that my cousins and my Brother were always fascinated with it, that got me to thinking maybe I can do that if I put my mind to it.
DMR: As an artist would you like to try out a different genre?
Ktl da soldier: I would like to try out different genres because it could offer me a different path, open up new doors and give me new opportunities to meet new people.
DMR: How would you describe your musical career in one word?
Ktl da soldier: I would describe my music career as ever expanding you see you never know what I’m gonna do next or what I’m going to release next so it keeps people on their toes.
DMR: Is there anything you are currently working on?
Ktl da soldier: I am currently working on a remix to my song Im a soldier It will feature LCA Coop Which is an artist I haven’t collabbed with in a while.
DMR: When we will get the next release?
Ktl da soldier: The next release is Going Down, which is Dropping April 30th.
DMR: Are you thinking about trying out different things and experimenting with them in your work?
Ktl da soldier: Yes I am thinking about trying new things. you can never have too many tricks up your sleeve. I could take a whole different direction, if I wanted to with my musical but I like where I’m at, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try new things If given the opportunity.
DMR: At such a young age you have reached out to so many audiences, how do you feel about that?
Ktl da soldier: It feels amazing to know that your music is actually getting out there and The fact to know that millions of people are listening to my song makes me feel wonderful.
DMR: What has been your biggest achievement till now?
Ktl da soldier: My biggest achievement was me getting signed to Madè ENT because I’ve known Madè since high school and when he signed me to madè ENT that took me to all new places that I’ve never been to before in my career.
DMR: Any message, you would like to give your fans?
Ktl da soldier: As you all know I used to be called Ktl Ronn and I had a lot of songs featuring LCA Coop. I felt like something wasn’t right. I felt like my career wasn’t going anywhere, so I started over. That being said if there’s one thing you take from this it is that you have to know when to start over. If you have to start overdo it because if you don’t you will regret it and wish you had.
