The Northerner is Creating a Sensation With their Album ‘Somewhere Beautiful’

The talented musical band The Northerner is creating a sensation among everyone with their brilliant soundtracks. Their unique presentations have always gotten the appreciation from all. Currently, this band has come up with their latest album named ‘Somewhere Beautiful’. Therefore, we got an opportunity to have a chat with them and this is how it went-

Somewhere Beautiful’

DMR: Hello, The Northerner, first of congratulation on getting such a massive response from everyone on the recent album ‘Somewhere Beautiful’. Have you ever imagined this would become such a huge success?

The Northerner: Hah, thanks. No way. Well, I guess ‘success’ is relative. Depending on how you look at it we’re still not “successful”, but knowing that so many people have enjoyed the music and connected with the album, to me, make it very successful. We didn’t really have any expectations, so anything is great!

DMR: Would you like to share any memory of making this album?

The Northerner: We’ll never make another album like this – it will never be possible. One third of the album was recorded in the Bay Area, one third in Florida where I got stuck during lockdown, and one third in Southern California. That symbology is awesome. I have no idea what it means, but it’s really cool.

DMR: It has a total of eleven songs and each of them is unique in every aspect. How did you come up with the diversity?

The Northerner: Probably taking 5 years to write and record. I (along with everyone else) felt like I started losing my mind a little bit during lockdown, and 1 or 2 of the songs really reflect that. The rest of them feeling unique is probably from how many life changes we went through over the last 5 years. My life changed, thus the songs changed. It’s pretty natural I guess, and my life over those 5 years is really reflected in all 11 songs.

DMR: How you came up with the idea for this album?

The Northerner: My wedding was set during covid lockdowns, and it was difficult to accept all our plans changed last minute. But I knew we were going somewhere beautiful regardless of what happened – thats how a lot of the album started coming together.

DMR: What is the story of building this band?

The Northerner: I’ve been playing in bands since high school, and it feels like it’s just never stopped. Some of the band members have changed over the years, but ultimately these songs are written on an acoustic guitar and get built from there. My friend Aaron has produced, engineered, mixed and mastered almost every song I’ve ever done, and has become part of the writing process too. He and I work very well together – it also helps that we both root for the same sports teams. Go Dubs!!

DMR: How is your journey as a musical band till now?

The Northerner: Considering this is the 1st album we’ve released together I think we’ll have to wait to answer this one in a few years. I guess it’s been important that we all vibe well together, and can have positive conversations together outside of music.

DMR: What has inspired you all to become a musician?

The Northerner: It’s hard to say, because music has been part of all of our DNA for as long as we can remember. Music has always been a huge, important part of my life. As cliche as it sounds, music is an escape from a lot of the non sense we deal with in our lives, and creating music is an outlet. I’ve felt this was as far back as my memories go.

DMR: You have worked with pop music. Are there any other genres that you would like to try in the future?

The Northerner: I often feel torn between heavier guitar driven tones and acoustic or piano type songs. I think Somewhere Beautiful really lives right in the middle of those, and it’s a pretty happy medium. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next songs we record are heavier though. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they were more chill. I guess that’s a terrible answer.

DMR: Is there any upcoming project that you are working on right now?

The Northerner: I always have ideas in my head, but no not really. Once life settles down, we may get back to writing and recording new material, towards the end of the year.

DMR: When your listeners will get to listen to your next project?

The Northerner: Well it took 5 years to finish Somewhere Beautiful, so who knows. We’re not planning anything right now, but that could change towards the end of the year!

DMR: Are you planning to go on any tour in the coming days?

The Northerner: We’re not going to travel far for shows right now, but we do have some coming up on the west coast.

DMR: Would you like to give any message to your fans?

The Northerner: Life is short. Spend it with people who make you feel alive.

Thank you so much for taking out your precious time. And all the very best for your upcoming projects.
