The latest number of entries in different categories such as songwriting, production, performance, and specialist musical genres has shown the massive competition in this year’s Grammy. According to the figures reported by Billboard on 12th October 2026, it is coming to know that the Song of the Year submission count is a total 923 entries. On the other hand, Best Opera Recording has only 43 entries.
The competition is quite different in various categories. Some categories are extremely competitive, and some aren’t. The difference illustrates how competition varies considerably across the awards, even though every Grammy category represents a distinct artistic achievement. The round of voting for this year’s Grammy opened on 12th October, and it is seen that voters are going through all the entries in 95 Grammy categories out of 100 before casting their votes. The rest of the five categories are completely determined by committees.
Record of the Year has gotten a total of 779 entries. While the Album of the Year has received 683 entries. The Best Music Video has also gotten considerable interest and received 645 entries. These are the few prestigious categories that have gotten the maximum number of entries. These are the categories that are the major attractions for songwriters, artists, recording professionals, and producers.
On the other hand, Best Gospel Album has 44 entries, Best Traditional Country Album received 46 entries, and Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media got 50 entries. The entries vary with the popularity of the category. These figures should not be interpreted as evidence of lower artistic quality or cultural importance. Rather, they reflect differences in genre size, eligibility, and the number of eligible recordings submitted during the awards season.
