Barbie showcases Ryan Gosling sporting an exclusive lineup of outfits for his role as Ken. However, among this unique collection was a black cowboy attire that was seen to have been previously worn by Jimin of BTS in 2021 for the group’s “Permission to Dance” music video. Acknowledging the coincidence of the matching outfits, the actor sent the “Like Crazy” singer a thoughtful and prized memento from the sets with a touching message:
“Hi Jimin, This is Ryan Gosling here. I noticed that your Permission to Dance outfit was the same as my Ken outfit in the upcoming movie Barbie. And I have to give it to you, you wore it first and you definitely wore it best. And there is an unspoken Ken code that if you borrowed another Ken’s style you have to give them your best possession. So I’ll hope you accept Ken’s guitar as my humble offering. Besides Ken doesn’t play anyway so it will be much better in your hands.”
This came as a pleasant surprise for BTS fans as the singer has on multiple occasions expressed his love for the Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams starrer The Notebook and has confessed to having watched the movie seven times. He once posted about binge-watching the movie a few days after getting discharged from the hospital post his appendicitis surgery and testing negative for Covid-19, and said, “I cried for a while.”
Jimin is yet to respond to Goslin’s gift of Ken’s guitar to him and fans are waiting eagerly for his response. However, it is not new for a BTS member to have been gifted a guitar by another celebrity. In December 2021, Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin gifted Jin his guitar after the latter complimented Martin’s instrument. The K-Pop singer later revealed in an interview: “I was so happy. After our collaboration, we had a chance to see him again in the U.S. When just the two of us were in the studio, I said to him, ‘Hey, your guitar’s cool.’ I mean, I’m such a big fan. Honestly, everything about him is cool. But he suddenly handed the guitar over, saying it was a gift. I hadn’t been implying anything with my comment. Even in my dazed state, I was so excited I didn’t know how to respond.”
Coldplay collaborated with BTS on the No. 1 hit song, “My Universe” in 2021.
