On Friday, June 13, the 2025 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival was canceled after severe weather forced an evacuation earlier in the day. The festival is held in Manchester, Tennessee. The authorities shared the update on social media around 7:30 p.m. local time. Organizers said heavy thunderstorms and an updated forecast showed unsafe conditions for on-site campers. The decision came as storms continued to hit the area, making it impossible to continue the event safely for all attendees.

“Today, the National Weather Service provided us with an updated forecast with significant and steady precipitation that will produce deteriorating camping and egress conditions in the coming days,” the message reads. “We are beyond gutted, but we must make the safest decision and cancel the remainder of Bonnaroo. We are going to make things right with you, and you will find refund information at the end of this message, but let’s start with the next steps.”

The message urged campers with stable sites or those safe inside RVs to stay overnight if possible. This would help make room for evacuating festivalgoers facing tougher conditions. Organizers wanted to ensure that people in the most difficult spots could leave safely first as the severe weather continued to impact the festival grounds.

“The number one thing we need from the Bonnaroo community is patience,” the statement reads. “Some of your fellow campers’ sites are in rough shape. The rain has settled in areas and made certain parts of Outeroo difficult to manage. We’d like to prioritize getting those folks as well as those with accessibility needs off The Farm as soon as possible this evening. To do this, we ask that if your campsite is in good shape or if you’re in an RV or pre-pitched accommodation, please consider spending the night with us and we’ll start working to get you out of here safely tomorrow.”

The festival ended its message by saying how “crushed” the organizers feel about having to make this choice. “We have put our hearts and souls into making this weekend the most special one of the year, and cannot express how crushed we are to have to make this decision. Thank you in advance for your patience, your positivity and your unfailing Bonnaroovian spirit.”

The post ends with refund details as promised. It explains which tickets and parking passes will get a full refund. It also shares what will be partly refunded since day one went as planned on Thursday. Organizers wanted to make sure fans knew what to expect after the event was cut short by the bad weather. Bonnaroo started Thursday with shows by Luke Combs, Dom Dolla, Insane Clown Posse, and Rebecca Black. Friday night was set to feature Tyler, The Creator, John Summit, and Glass Animals. Saturday’s main acts were Olivia Rodrigo, Avril Lavigne, and Justice. The festival planned to close on Sunday with Hozier, Vampire Weekend, and Queens of the Stone Age.
