The Global Citizen Festival 2025 is creating a lot of anticipation among music lovers, with their favorite artists, Shakira and The Weeknd, set to headline the show. The festival is scheduled to take place at the Great Lawn in New York’s Central Park on September 27, and everyone is eagerly waiting for it. This year’s festival will be hosted by Hugh Jackman, better known as the Wolverine.

The event will also feature performances by Ayra Starr, Tyla, Mariah the Scientist, and many others, as there are still many names yet to be announced. The reason why so many artists join the stage is because it is a charity event that is dedicated to investing its profits in philanthropic works.

Global Citizen Festival 2025 is focusing on providing access to energy to more than one million people in Africa. Along with that, the authority will also focus on giving quality education to children. They are also partnering with FIFA to offer more opportunities in football with the goal to educate 30,000 children around the globe who can also become professional athletes.

According to the official release, this festival campaign is looking forward to “mobilize $200 million to protect 30 million hectares of the Amazon rainforest, and registering 40,000 New Yorkers to volunteer across the city.” The best part is that tickets for the festival are free, and interested people can secure their tickets by taking potential actions through the Global Citizen App, which will be further used in philanthropy.

Shakira shared in a statement, “I’m honored to headline the incredible Global Citizen Festival in Central Park this September,” and further added, “Music has always been my way of connecting with people and leaving a mark on the world. I can’t wait to perform, unite, and inspire action.”

Hugh Jackman on the other hand said, “The 2025 Global Citizen Festival marks my eleventh year as host, and I’m thrilled by the progress we’ve made over the years. The growing impact of the Global Citizen movement touches every corner of the world, and I’m eager to advocate alongside my fellow ambassadors, performers, world leaders, and private sector executives to leave the world better than we found it.”

Global Citizen has previously co-produced the FIFA Club World Cup halftime show, which took place for the first time in history on July 13.
