One of the biggest music festivals in India, Ziro Music Festival, is returning, and the dates are out! From 25th to 28th September 2025, the festival will resume.

For the people of Arunachal Pradesh, Ziro Valley is home to countless rice fields and the Apatani tribe, who have preserved their customs and way of life for centuries. However, for travelers across the country and the world, the valley has become synonymous with one thing: the legendary Ziro Music Festival.
The music festival was launched in 2012 and has carved a niche by bringing together independent artists from across the country and the globe. The festival’s charm lies in its lineup. However, the backdrop is also breathtaking with lush rice fields and rolling Pine Hills. What makes Ziro stand out is its commitment to sustainability. Stages for the music festival are built with bamboo. The blend of community, responsibility, culture, and music makes Ziro Music Festival a distinctive experience every year.

The Ziro Music Festival is more than just a celebration of music and art for the enthusiasts. Over the years, it has now become a movement towards sustainability. The music festival is known as India’s greenest festival and takes pride in building stages from locally sourced bamboo. Single-use plastic is banned, and the festival ensures waste management throughout the grounds. Members of the Apatani community play a central role in the music festival. From organizing and managing the event to preserving the land where it is held, the Onka Miri people are involved in everything. Once the festival ends, the grounds are restored to their pristine condition, leaving no trace behind. This eco-conscious approach has become a defining feature of the Ziro experience, making it as much about responsibility as it is about festivities.
Reaching Ziro Valley takes time, and the nearest airport is Lilabari in Assam. The airport is about 100 kilometers away with connections from Guwahati and Kolkata. From the airport, travelers can take cabs and shared taxis into the valley. Another option is to arrive by train at Naharlagun, which is near Itanagar, and continue onward by road. Once in Ziro, visitors can wander through rice fields, pine forests, and traditional Apatani villages. They can engage in tasting local dishes like bamboo shoot curry with Apong. Exploring sites such as the Tarin Fish Farm and Meghna Cave Temple, and trekking to Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary are also memorable experiences.
