When the Foo Fighters revealed that they would be performing at Madison Square Garden, and fans rejoiced. However, when it was revealed that the venue will follow New York City regulations and demand attendees to provide evidence of vaccination, several fans were disappointed.

The band excitedly announced on Tuesday that tickets for the June 20 concert will be available beginning Friday.

However, according to the show’s Ticketmaster website, “Guests must have proof of complete Covid-19 immunization – Final Dose 14 Days Before Event.”

“Because of overwhelming demand for these events, in order to accommodate as many guests as possible, Madison Square Garden is complying with New York State mandates that require all guests to be fully vaccinated in such circumstances.”

While unimmunized fans who haven’t had vaccination are complaining against the vaccination proof protocol— the short declaration, coming only 12 days before the show, meant many fans wouldn’t have a chance to meet the “Final Dose 14 Days Before” standard — many in the selective fans have concerns about their intention, complaining how the announcement seemed miffed by the fact that the band would play a show at all. One tweeter referred to the band as an “enemy of the people,” whereas others accused them of “coercion.”

Why fans are shocked the group is on board with vaccines is a bit puzzling, given the Foo Fighters’ participation at L.A.’s Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World last month.

Frontman Dave Grohl has already showed his seriousness about the outbreak by opposing former President Donald Trump’s plan to reopen schools.

In an audio edition of his Medium series, “Dave’s True Stories,” he questioned the qualifications of those making some of the decisions: “I wouldn’t trust the U.S. secretary of percussion to tell me how to play ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ if they’d never sat behind a drum set. So why should any teacher trust Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos to tell them how to teach without her ever having sat at the head of a class. Maybe she should switch to the drums.”

One Twitter fan swore he’d toss their recordings away after incorrectly believing the June 20 performance had already occurred. The tweet received over 3,500 likes in approximately a day and a half.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average number of flu fatalities in the United States for the preceding decade was over 36,000. Since the beginning of the outbreak around 18 months ago, the CDC has recorded 596,059 COVID-19 fatalities in the United States. According to the World Health Organization, the seasonal influenza mortality rate is “well below.1%,” whereas the COVID-19 mortality rate is between 3% and 4%. As a result, the poster was only 30 to 40% off.

One poster brought Mariah Carey and Dolly Parton into it, perhaps referring to their effort to push vaccines, noting their “experimental biochemical substances injections marketing.”
