Amaal Mallik Returning With ‘Awarapan 2’ While Lashing Out at Bollywood

‘Awarapan 2’ is creating massive excitement among all, but it is a little too special for Amaal Mallik. As the music composer has landed a major project, it is like a personal victory for him. It is the sequel to a movie that has been appreciated by a huge number of audiences. It is one of the most talked-aboutmovies in the industry. Even the sequel is creating a huge buzz in the industry. For quite some time, Amaal Mallik was feeling that he had been sidelined in the industry. But this new project has allowed him to come to the mainstream once again.

It can be stated that ‘Awarapan 2’ will decide his future, whether he will survive in the industry or not. As the announcement of Amaal’s involvement in the movie was made, he started receiving more phone calls. However, he doesn’t perceive it as a celebration, but the nature of Bollywood. The sudden flood of phone calls showed how the perception in the industry changes rapidly.

While talking to the media, the music composer said ‘The minute the ‘Awarapan’ announcement happened, there were 20 calls from this industry’. Amaal has gone through a difficult situation in the past couple of years. He has never tried to hide his disappointment while talking about the shifting loyalties in the industry. He even stated that he was removed from many projects in these years, which was quite heartbreaking for him. He even said, ‘Many of them hadn’t worked with me in a long time, had removed me from many films. It’s a very sad situation’.

He faced quite a hard time, but it doesn’t make him angry anymore. From all these, he only understood the nature of fame in the industry. It changes quickly according to the situation, and there is nothing to hide about it. All his life, he has seen how careers rise, fall, and then rise again. He added by saying, ‘I have seen my father be successful, be good and fail. I’ve seen my uncle debut in 1977 and then flopped in 1992. And then one ‘Baazigar’ comes. Then everyone wants his music’.

In his career, too, he witnessed the same thing. His journey got a boost after the song ‘Sooraj Dooba Hai’ from ‘Roy’. But everything started changing after ‘Kabir Singh’. From all these, he has understood that being a part of the race is not for him anymore. While he was asked about his future projects, he said, ‘I don’t want to take up anything right now’. He even said, ‘I think I retired in 2019. So now, it’s more of me just doing it my way’.

He even talked about how the music scene has changed completely due to the streaming sites. He stated, ‘People are not discovering music through just films and today, it’s at the lowest. People today are discovering music through streaming apps, through friend recommendations, through Shazam, through random recommendations. There is no rule now that a song from a movie only can come and make you a star, or from a superhit song promoted by a big label’. Amaal even said, ‘I made it very clear that ‘Awarapan’ is the last song on my CV which will prove the musician I am’. Amaal Mallik might take a whole new turn in his career. The all we can do is just wait and observe.
