Ever since the first teaser of Ramayana arrived online, conversations around Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological drama have only grown bigger! Led by Ranbir Kapoor, the film is already being described as one of the grandest projects Indian cinema has ever attempted, both in scale and production. Reports around the film’s massive budget, said to be close to Rs 4,000 crore, have further added to the excitement surrounding the two-part epic. One of the biggest highlights attached to the project is its music. For the film, AR Rahman is collaborating with legendary German composer Hans Zimmer for the soundtrack.

The collaboration has already become one of the most talked-about aspects of Ramayana, especially with Zimmer’s global reputation for creating scores for large-scale cinematic spectacles. His involvement alongside Rahman has raised expectations for the film’s music and sound design, which the composer himself believes is unlike anything audiences have experienced before.

Recalling his reaction after watching the film’s trailer in 3D, Rahman spoke about being stunned by the visual scale and technical achievement of the project. “It is one of the biggest films of my career. Not only the story, we all know the story, and how we respect it, but also the technology. Just even watching the trailer in 3D is incredible. I’ve never seen anything of Indian or in the whole world as a piece of art. It’s so incredible on 3D, the music and sound,” he shared.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The cast also includes Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, and Ravi Dubey in major roles. The film has been produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash under Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations. Planned as a two-part cinematic event, Ramayana Part 1 is scheduled to release during Diwali 2026, while Part 2 is expected to arrive in theaters on Diwali 2027. With its massive scale production and budget, star cast, and the rare musical collaboration between AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, the film has already positioned itself as one of the most anticipated releases in recent years.
