At the app launch, Javed Akhtar said a few things that are faced by all the musicians in India. First, he clarified the two different types of music artists in the country. There are certain filmmakers who work in the film industry and there are others who are not involved in films or do classical music. The lyricist stated ‘Film music is a commissioned job. The director or producer gives a situation, and we have to compose or write accordingly. They are the final judge—and rightly so. It’s their film, their vision’.

He even said that on the other hand, there are many classical or non-classical music artists are there who cannot reach out to larger audiences due to the various marketing issues. It is the place where music artists require freedom the most. Commission works are definitely needed, but artists also need a platform where they can create music in whatever way they want. That is why, he said ‘For the first time, we’ve created a stage where composers, writers, and singers can do what they truly feel. They don’t have to be answerable to anyone’.

He even added ‘There is no approval committee. Every artist is free to contribute what they like, the way they want’. When it comes to mainstream formats, artists often do not get the chance to express things in the way they want. It is the same for poets and writers also, which is becoming a huge concern. Then he stated ‘For the first time, even that art which has never reached the common man will now find its audience, because of marketing filters, many forms of great music never make it to the public. This app changes that’.
