Shankar Mahadevan Showcases His Nominee Medal Before Grammy Awards 2026

One of India’s most talented, versatile, and celebrated musicians, Shankar Mahadevan, recently attended the pre-Grammy nominee reception in Los Angeles, where he received the nominee medal for the 2026 Grammy Awards. The artist decided to share this moment of pride through social media, and the fans have showered their love and appreciation through the comments, along with fellow artists from the industry such as Zoya Akhtar, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, and many others.

The musician posted pictures of himself posing with the nominee medallion, and the happiness of the artist could be noticed on his face. He expressed deep enthusiasm with the caption that reads, “At the pre-Grammy nominee reception party! Received the nominee medal and hung out with musicians from all over the world!!!” The sense of camaraderie with the global artists is noticeable.

This is not the first time Shankar Mahadevan has received a Grammy nomination, which happened after being a major part of the fusion music band ‘Shakti’, which also performed at the NPR Tiny Desk and gained global attention.

This band has launched an album recently titled ‘Mind Explosion’, which helped to receive two nominations at the 68th Grammy Awards. The album was nominated for Best Global Music Album, while the track ‘Shrini’s Dream’ that appears in the album received a nomination for Best Global Music Performance. Previously in 2024, Shakti received a nomination for the Best Global Music Album at the Grammys for their album, ‘This Moment’. It means this is the second time for Shakti to receive global attention at the Grammy Awards in a span of two years only.

The artist also appeared in the video post on Instagram, where he shared the significance of this achievement as he was following the routes of late tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain, who was also a part of Shakti before. He helped to maintain the enduring legacy of the band and allowed it to gain more global attention with the refreshing new fusion works that put Indian influences on a global scale. The video post comes with the caption, “2 Grammy nominations .. Looking forward to the awards ceremony with my dear maestros. Fingers crossed.”

Establishing more milestones in his international music career, ‘Breathless’ singer Shankar Mahadevan is progressing at full throttle on his journey, and there are no brakes or breaks!
