Madonna returns with Confessions II, a bold follow-up to her 2005 era. The album lands July 3 with that same pulse and energy fans never really let go of!
The announcement came with a sharp reset of her Instagram. Madonna wiped her feed clean and updated her bio to read “Time goes by so slowly…,” a direct nod to Hung Up, the lead single that defined the original record. It felt deliberate and a little theatrical, the kind of move that signals a new chapter without overexplaining it. Alongside the reveal, she shared the album’s cover art and a teaser clip featuring a snippet of a new track titled I Feel So Free, giving fans a first taste of what’s coming.

In a press statement about the new album, Madonna wrote:
“When Stuart Price and I first started working on this record, this was our manifesto:
We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect—with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people. Sound, light, and vibration Reshape our perceptions Pulling us into a trance-like state.
The repetition of the bass, we don’t just hear it but we feel it. Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time.”
The connection with Stuart Price is essential for developing the album, since he shaped the sound of the original Confessions album. Madonna first hinted at their reunion in December 2024 with a studio video, which quietly set expectations that something bigger was taking shape behind the scenes. Not long after, she confirmed her return to Warner Records, the label that released her work from her 1983 debut through Hard Candy in 2008. This finally closed a loop that had been open for years. In the time since her last studio album, Madame X, in 2019, Madonna has stayed present in the industry differently. She dropped remix collections like ‘Finally Enough Love’ and ‘Veronica Eletronica’ as well as revisited older material. She also collaborated with artists like Beyoncé, Fireboy DML, and Sam Smith. She even reworked Hung Up with Tokischa, giving it a new edge for a different audience.
There have been detours along the way. A planned biopic starring Julia Garner was scrapped in 2023, though the story may still surface through other projects. Still, Confessions II is the real focus now, a return to the dance floor that shaped one of her most defining eras, but with a new sense of intent behind it.
