Fans of Noah Kahan, or as he fondly calls them, Busyheads, might want to brace themselves. Something deeply personal is on the way, and it promises to hit harder than expected. The New England-bred singer-songwriter has officially locked in the release date for his upcoming documentary, set to stream on Netflix next month. Titled “Noah Kahan: Out of Body,” the documentary will premiere on April 13. It will offer a vulnerable and intimate look at the artist’s life behind the music. The timing feels deliberate, arriving just days before the release of his fourth studio album, ‘The Great Divide’, which drops on April 24. It sets up a moment where fans are not only hearing new music but also understanding the person creating it.

Kahan shared the news himself on Instagram, and his words hint at just how emotional this project really is. “My life was filmed for a year and a half,” Kahan wrote on Instagram about the coming documentary. “It was weird, difficult, and genuinely beautiful to experience. I’m excited for you guys to see it too.” That year and a half of footage goes beyond your typical and surface-level storytelling. It digs into his creative process as well as his personal struggles and the people who shaped him. “This documentary captures so much more than I ever thought the world would see about myself, my creative journey, and my family,” he continued. “I am nervous about it because it’s personal, and some things I touch on are painful to think about and be reminded of. I remember, though, that anything scary or hard is usually worth sharing with the world,” he continued on Instagram.

The film also revisits the turning point of his career. It explores the breakout success of ‘Stick Season’, both as a song and an album. It pushed Kahan into a level of fame he had not anticipated. With that success came the weight of touring, public attention, and the ongoing challenge of protecting his mental health. Throughout it all, the documentary keeps circling back to what grounds the musician the most, his Vermont roots and the quiet strength of family. There is also a sense that this project is meant to connect. Kahan seems aware that his story might mirror someone else’s. “Maybe it will reach one of you in a time when you need it,” Kahan said on Instagram. “Maybe you’ll see some of your own family in mine. Either way, I hope you love it.” The “Noah Kahan: Out of Body” documentary is shaping up to be more than a regular music documentary. It seems like a window into the messy and honest parts of Kahan’s growth, told by the artist who is still figuring it out in real life.
