ScHoolboy Q is preparing to enter a new chapter of his career with his next album. Titled ‘THank Que’, it is officially on the way next year. The West Coast rapper shared the news during a recent Los Angeles show celebrating the 10th anniversary of his acclaimed 2016 album ‘Blank Face LP’. Following the success of ‘Blue Lips’ in 2024, Q appears ready to keep pushing forward with new music while making one thing clear: retirement is not part of his plans.
As he wrapped up the anniversary performance, ScHoolboy Q addressed the crowd with a direct announcement about his upcoming project, confirming its title and expected release year. “New album called THank Que coming out next year. I promise you that,” he told the crowd as he was closing the show. “Ten-year anniversary, and I’mma be around for the 20th too. I promise that. I will never retire.” His words offered a reassuring message to listeners and set expectations for the next phase of his musical journey. Although an exact release date has yet to be announced, the rapper has already given fans a clear indication that new material is on the horizon.
The announcement also follows a recent glimpse into Q’s studio sessions, where he revealed that the album had been taking shape for some time. Sharing a photo of studio equipment on his Instagram Story a few months ago, he offered a brief but telling update about the project. “New chapter,” he captioned the image. “Wrapping up this 12-song album called Thank Que. Been working on this for a minute. Yes, I’m coming back.” With 12 songs planned for the record, the project marks an important next step following the very successful ‘Blue Lips’. This new album is expected to give listeners another opportunity to hear what the rapper has been developing behind the scenes.
What began as a plan for a single Los Angeles performance to celebrate ‘Blank Face LP’ has also grown into a wider tour. Q initially announced the idea through his Instagram Story, writing, “Blank Face turns 10. Appreciate everybody,” before adding, “F— it, let’s do one show in L.A. at the Palladium. F— it, new vinyl too.” Instead of limiting the celebration to one night, however, the West Coast artist expanded the run into nine cities across 10 nights, with his hometown receiving two performances. The tour is scheduled to continue in Phoenix at Van Buren on Tuesday, Oct. 13, before concluding in Las Vegas at Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday. With ‘THank Que’ expected next year and a renewed commitment to performing, ScHoolboy Q is showing no signs of stepping away from music. His recent announcement keeps the expectations high for his next album.
