Zayn Malik’s handwritten lyrics for ‘Fuschia Sea’ have fans thinking he is finally opening up about his past struggles and his time in the boy band One Direction.

Rapping over a smooth and laid-back hip-hop beat, Malik shared the lyrics on his Instagram Story and delivered his verse with sharp emotion. He spits, “Do you remember every conversation?/ ‘Cause I have been conscious of every connotation.” “I’m a convert to the concert, and I did that for inflation/ ‘Cause I worked hard in a white band, and they still laughed at the Asian,” Malik continues on the track. “If my granddad could go back, lad, there’s a fat chance of a backhand/ Just a young man with his own kid and a wife now, in a new land/ I know he dreamed hard, cause they’re my dreams/ And I grabbed hard with these two hands.”

Malik has not confirmed an official release date yet, keeping fans guessing for now. But in the video teaser he shared, he added the words “coming soon” in the text, hinting that the track might drop sooner than expected. Loyal fans quickly showed support for Malik’s unfiltered honesty, praising his openness. “”Cause i worked hard in a white band and they still laughed at the asian” Zayn Malik is out for BLOOD,” one of the comments on X read. “”have you ever heard of another me?” YOU TELL THEM ZAYN MALIK, YOU FUCKING TELL THEM,” another one said. One comment said, “Zayn Malik deserves the BIGGEST apology from the world like RIGHT NOW!!!!” while another one read, “Zayn Malik being the voice for the new generation of poc kids because he never had one when he was growing up.”
The “white band” mentioned likely refers to One Direction, which Malik joined in 2010 alongside Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and the late Liam Payne during their X Factor days. The group released four albums together before Malik left in 2015. The remaining members went on to release one final album, ‘Made in the A.M.’, before taking an indefinite break in 2016. As One Direction’s fame exploded in the early 2010s, Malik, who was raised Muslim by a Pakistani father and English mother, faced a wave of hate online. The public often projected harmful and racist narratives onto him. At one point, social media was flooded with false and offensive claims linking him to 9/11 or suggesting ties to ISIS, despite having zero basis.
Malik last released music in 2024 with his album ‘Room Under the Stairs’. It reached No. 15 on the Billboard 200. The album includes a track called ‘Fuchsia Sea,’ though the lyrics he shared on Friday appear to be different from the original version.
