The non-English female Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is honored for her “immense influence on music around the world” and “incredible repertoire.”

Taylor Swift will be honored as a global icon at the 2021 Brit Awards, which will take place on Tuesday, May 11. Swift would be the first female artist, as well as the first non-English artist, to win the prize, which the British regard as their highest award. Elton John (2014), David Bowie (2016), and Robbie Williams are the only recent receivers (2017) of this honor. She will be awarded the prize on Tuesday during the ceremony at the O2 Arena in London.

Swift is also nominated in the international female solo artist category, making this her sixth Brit award nomination.

Swift could walk away from the event with two trophies. She’s also up for the international female solo artist, which she achieved in 2015. She is up against four other American artists in that category: Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, and Miley Cyrus. Swift’s win for a worldwide female solo artist in 2015 remains her only Brit Award to date, among six nominations.

“Taylor’s career is unparalleled and her music and influence has resonated with millions of people all over the world,” the Brit award statement said.

“She’s used her platform to highlight many issues globally and recently has been applauded for her work promoting acceptance of the LGBTQ community.”

Swift has broken several records in the United Kingdom, as well as in the United States and around the world. She is the first female artist of the 21st century with seven No. 1 studio albums on the Official United Kingdom Albums chart.

Swift is also the top-selling artist in the United Kingdom for 2021, according to the Official Charts Company, which is impressive for a long-running artist.

Swift is not expected to appear at The Brit Awards for Mastercard 2021, as the event is officially titled. Coldplay will perform their latest song “Higher Power” to kick off the show for the fifth time in their career. The Weeknd (via remote), Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Griff (this year’s Rising Star award winner), Headie One, and Rag’n’Bone Man & P!nk will also perform with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Choir.

Jessie Ware, Bicep, and rappers AJ Tracey, J Hus, and Headie One also have two nominations.
