Olivia Rodrigo Shines at Coachella with Live Debut of ‘Drop Dead’ with Addison Rae

The Coachella 2026 came with many surprises, and one of them was Olivia Rodrigo’s beautiful performance. Saturday night was magical for the fans as Rodrigo offered the live debut of her brand new single “Drop Dead”.

On April 18, Addison Rae was performing “Headphones On,” from her brand new album ‘Addison,’ and Rodrigo surprised everyone by appearing on stage and offering a guest performance. She was summoned at the stage but without any prior announcements.

Soon, it took a turn with the live debut of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead,” and this was the perfect way to tease the upcoming album by the ‘Driver License’ singer. Rae also traded a few lines from the song, and the crowd hyped for it very much.

“Drop Dead” is the lead single from the upcoming third studio album by Rodrigo, which is titled ‘You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love’. Being the first single, this song perfectly teases the upcoming full-length project. The song also premiered with an official music video directed by Petra Collins, which was shot at the Palace of Versailles.

The music video offers an essence of bubble-gum pop music where audiences can find a blend of retro royalty and modernism. The camera work also involves a retro filter and a dreamy flair, which appears to be perfect with the theme. There is chaos, happiness, and celebration of self, along with the poignancy of love. The song also seems well-written by Olivia, Amy Allen, and Daniel Nigro.

In a recent interview with Vogue, Rodrigo talked about the concept of the album and said, “I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them,” and added that this album is a collection of “sad love songs.” The upcoming album is all set to be released under the label of Geffen on June 12.

The upcoming album is inspired by Rodrigo’s time spent in London, and she also claimed that it is going to be one of her most experimental projects yet. As a result, the anticipation for ‘You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love’ is quite high right now.

Before the release of the project, the artist will be offering a greater tease of the project through her appearance at the Saturday Night Live Show as both host and musical guest on May 2.
