Ariana Grande Surprises Fans by Dropping ‘Dangerous Woman’ Outtake

A decade after Dangerous Woman first arrived, Ariana Grande is finally giving one of her most requested deep cuts a proper release. The pop star has officially premiered ‘Knew Better Part Two’ as part of Dangerous Woman (Tenth Anniversary Edition), turning what was once a fan treasured SoundCloud exclusive into an official streaming release. Originally shared online a few months after the album dropped in 2016, the extended version of ‘Knew Better’ has spent years circulating among dedicated Arianators who treated it like a hidden treasure from one of Grande’s most defining eras.

Now, after a 10-year wait, the song has found a permanent home on the anniversary edition of the album that helped cement Ariana Grande’s transition into a darker and more confident pop territory. ‘Knew Better Part Two’ expands on the original ‘Knew Better / Forever Boy’ track that appeared near the end of Dangerous Woman. Built around the same sleek trap pop production that shaped the album’s sound and identity, this extended version leans into a bouncier rhythm. Grande, on the other hand, revisits the aftermath of a failed relationship with sharper emotions and a lot more bite in her delivery.

The release arrives at a busy moment in Grande’s career as she prepares for the launch of her upcoming eighth studio album, Petal. It is set for release on July 31 through BabyDoll and Republic Records. The project was co-written and produced alongside longtime collaborator Ilya. In addition to this, the lead single ‘Hate That I Made You Love Me’ is scheduled to arrive on May 29 with pop heavyweight Max Martin credited on the track. Though Grande has kept most details about the album private, she recently teased the direction of the record by describing it as “a little bit feral.” “It was kind of about breaking up with all different kinds of negative attachments — whether it’s my own monsters in my own head, external voices, things that no longer serve me,” the ‘Thank You, Next’ singer said. “It was a writing experiment for me to use that as a template so that I could be talking about one thing and sharing something, and people could use it however they want and apply it to their own lives.”

Petal will mark Grande’s full-length release since Eternal Sunshine in 2024 and follows her widely praised performance as Glinda the Good Witch in the Wicked films. Her acting also earned her an Oscar nomination. Outside music, Grande’s schedule remains packed this year. She is set to appear later this year alongside Ben Stiller and Robert DeNiro in Focker In Law before returning to the stage in 2027 for a West End revival of Sunday in the Park with George opposite her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey. Meanwhile, the Eternal Sunshine Tour officially begins June 6 in Oakland, California.
