Mandatory military service in South Korea must be served by every able-bodied man in the country, including performers in the entertainment industry. Previously, BTS members went on hiatus to serve in the military, and now it’s time for boy band SEVENTEEN. However, its renowned member, Hoshi, has injured himself while serving in the South Korean military.

SEVENTEEN is a 13-member group where several members have already enlisted and are preparing to serve in the military. While rehearsing for the military training, Hoshi got seriously injured and has to undergo ACL surgery. Fans were quite worried about his health, and Hoshi took a moment to address the situation.

He used a fan communication platform to share the news with the fans and said, “I’m writing this carefully because the news many come as a surprise. I injured my knee while rehearsing with the Army performance team and underwent an examination, which found that I had completely torn my ACL.”

Hoshi further added that he will need time to attend and recover from the surgery; as a result, the member of SEVENTEEN will be unable to attend the events that were previously scheduled at the Ground Forces Festival for a taekwondo demonstration by the military.

The artist also said, “I had been working hard to prepare because these were performances I had been looking forward to, so I’m very disappointed that I won’t be able to take part. I also feel sorry for CARATS (SEVENTEEN’s fandom) who have been waiting for them. Although I won’t be able to join them, please give lots of support to the taekwondo demonstration team and the Ground Forces performance team with Ji Hoon.” He assured the fans, saying, “I’ll get proper treatment, focus on my recovery, and return in good health.”
