When musical bands are being made, it almost signifies a romantic relationship. Talented people meet, get enchanted by each others’ creative sparks, and hope to create magical compositions. Then just like romantic relationships, some of these also end quickly, some even create controversies and end up in lawsuits. These 7 bands went through particular hardships so let’s dig into it.

Rage Against the Machine
Probably the best rap-rock band of the 1990s, ‘Rage Against the Machine’ also might be the least functional. The band’s three albums were truly flawless; however, everything started to go downhill by 2000. In the same year, the lead singer Zack de la Rocha announced his departure stating “It is no longer meeting the aspirations of all four of us collectively as a band, and from my perspective, has undermined our artistic and political ideal.”

The Clash
Just like The Police, The Clash also had a difficult time adjusting to the new-found fame and success. After their first hit, “Rock the Casbah, the drummer Topper Headon was kicked out of the band due to his heroin addiction. The band then soon started to have arguments, especially with their music’s future direction. Soon after the band got into a hiatus and when they returned in 1983 to play at the US Festival, Jones and Strummer were barely talking to each other. As expected the show did not go well and Jones left the band afterward.

The Eagles
In 1980, America had seen its biggest rock band, ‘The Eagles’, however, their success was the biggest enemy that caused the band to break up. By this time the original members Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner had already left the band because of its toxic environment. On the other hand, Don Henley and Glenn Frey had reputations for being very intense and extremely driven. At this point, Joe Walsh was also too stoned and drunk to complain about the little to no control over the band. Even though the new bassist Timothy B. Schmit was wise and obedient, the guitarist Don Felder could not stand the band being treated like garbage. The tensions got far worse at the 1980 benefit show for Senator Alan Cranston and the band broke off.

The Police
Formed in 977 by drummer Stewart Copeland, the band with Gordon “Sting” Sumner and guitarist Andy Summers became the next big thing in rock music within a year. However, tension started to form as Sting took control over The Police. The other members started to feel like his employees and nasty fights broke out as the band started to get even bigger. Sting broke off the band in 1984 after their long stadium tour of “Synchronicity”. “It wasn’t my intention to punish Stewart and Andy in any way, I was following my instincts,” Sting said.

Oasis
Another sibling band and another sibling fight. Oasis’ early years were also filled with the Gallagher brothers fighting like maniacs. But by 2009, it seemed that the band had settled when it comes to profit and fame. They started to release an album every two-three years and went for huge gigs in Europe. However, one day, the frustration of over two decades finally came forward at a festival in Paris. It is heard that Noel and Liam Gallagher got into a physical fight and called off the performance and soon after Oasis was finished.

The Everly Brothers
Sibling rivalry is not something new that the world would see. In-home we often fight with our brothers and sisters but that fight gets dissolve quickly. This is not what happened with The Everly Brothers despite their massive effort to hold it together. And they did – for the first 20 years. But things quickly took a sad turn when in 1973, Don showed up drunk to a show in Hollywood. He kept messing up the lyrics and sang the wrong words which was apparently too much for Phil as moments after he smashed the guitar on his head. The brothers patched up in 1983 to go on a nostalgic tour.

Guns N’ Roses
Imagine a bunch of non-functional junkies and an egoistic, megalomaniac in a group – you can pretty much think what that outcome might be. For the band, Guns N’ Roses the breakup came earlier than one would expect. The group got its first hit with the 1987 release, “Appetite for Destruction”, but just after three years, the band faced its crack. The original drummer Steven Adler got pushed out of the band because of his severe drug addiction. Then that crack became huge and by the time their “Use Your Illusion” tour ended in 1993, the members went their separate ways. Since then the relationships between the original members only became worse as Axl called Slash a “cancer” and even refused to attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction event because the band members would be present in one room.
