Lady Gaga has made a permanent impact on the global pop scene with her unique creativity

American singer-songwriter Lady Gaga has given the world a new way of perceiving pop music. She is best known for her incredibly powerful singing, provocative lyrics, and flamboyant fashion sense. She has given the pop music industry some of its best songs like ‘Poker Face’, ‘Born This Way, ‘Bad Romance’, ‘Just Dance’, and many more.

Early life

Lady Gaga was born as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta on March 28th, 1986 in New York City. She was born in an Italian American family. She became involved with music from a very young age. In her teenage year, she used to perform in various New York City clubs. She studied music at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. There she studied for two years and then dropped out to pursue her music career.

Early career

At that time she slowly started transforming herself from Stefani to Lady Gaga. She combined a glam rock style with an over-the-top fashion statement to create her final look. Teaming up with performance artist Lady Starlight, she established a show called the Ultimate Pop burlesque Rockshow in 2007. In that same year, she also started writing songs for other successful artists like the Pussycat Doll, Fergie, and Britney Spears. Then she got a record deal with Interscope Records and singer Akon. She started working on her debut album, ‘The Fame’ which was released the next year in 2008.

She derived her stage name from Queen’s song, ‘Radio Ga Ga’. Her unique character that she created made a huge impact on the music industry at the time. The world had never experienced such an amazing musical talent with such performing possibilities before. Her breathtaking singing, captivating dance music, theatrical presentation, and edgy fashion broke the limitations of the contemporary music scene. Besides making her own music, Lady Gaga also created her sexually empowering fashion through dazzling wigs and surreal bodysuits with the help of her creative team Haus of Gaga.

Reception of ‘The Fame’ and ‘the Fame Monster’

The first single, ‘Just Dance’ from her first album, ‘The Fame’ was a huge hit in clubs all over the US and Europe. It reached the number one spot on the Billboard Pop Songs chart or the radio chart. Three songs from the album, ‘Love Game’, ‘Poker Face’, and ‘Pparazzi’ also hit the number one spot on the radio chart. Later albums

Lady Gag released her third album, ‘Born This Way’ in 2011. She has often been compared with Madonna for her singing style and fashion sense. In the first two singles of the album, the fans have found more similarities with Madonna. The song, ‘Judas’ was compared with Madonna’s 1989 release, ‘Express Yourself’. Guest stars like Brian May from Queen and Clarence Clemons from E Street Band appeared on the album.

Her 2013 release, ‘Artpop’ failed to make an impact on the scene. Only the lead single, ‘Applause’ became a success on the charts. Her song, ‘Cheek to Cheek’ with Tony Bennett topped Billboard 200 and got her Grammy for the best traditional pop vocal album. With her sixth album, ‘Chromatica’ she returned to her previous electropop and disco music approach.

Acting career

Though Lady Gaga made an appearance on films like ‘Machete Kills’ and ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, she made her prominent acting debut with the fifth season of the TV series, ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ between 2015 and 2016. She even got a Golden Globe Award for her role in the show. She received her Oscar nomination for her first leading role in the 2018 film, ‘A Star is Born’.
